Journalist wins award after exposing secret sex scandal

Harare(ZimEye)ZimEye Correspondent John Chimunhu has won a Federation of African Media Women Zimbabwe (FAMWZ) online media category award for exposing a sex scandal at the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) in a three part series of articles that came out on the ZimEye and the Zimbabwean online publications, according to a citation presented by the judges.
Chimunhu was on presented with a prize money of $300 and an online media category certificate by FAMWZ at a function held at a local hotel here in Harare Friday. The awards are meant to acknowledge good practice in mainstreaming gender in reporting.
According to the judges’ report, Chimunhu showed consistency in covering the artciles and he managed to balance his sources. The judges say he was able to put the story into perspective so the reader knew where the story had come from or where it was going and how widespread or typical the issue was. They add that the story covered all angles without ridiculing the survivors of the alleged sexual abuse.

Last month, another ZimEye correspondent, Privilege Musvanhiri was awarded first prize in the COSAFA photo competition at the end of the COSAFA cup championship. Like Chimunhu, Privilege walked away with a US500 scoop for his outstanding photographic work (ZimEye, Zimbabwe)

Well done Chimhunu but you should know the company never employed people for their abilities…at one moment it had too many war verts ..real and fake…and former girlfriends of CHEFS…so the legacy leaves on….very few will deny this…the institute was like that and it will continue to be until democracy works…..if you see them exposing each other like that its a deal gone wrong but its known most of them got there thru the wrong and back door
