UK gvt refuses to favour Zimbabwe asylum seekers thumbnail

Sheffield(ZimEye)Despite protests from asylum seekers, the Home Office plans to resume forced deportations of Zimbabwean failed asylum seekers soon, a Home Office official has said. In a full page letter dated 7th December to an Asylum Seekers’ organisation in Sheffield, the official said that the Home Office still stands by its October announcement by Phil Woolas which sets out the current position on enforcing the return of failed asylum seekers to Zimbabwe.

The asylum seekers had hoped that the Home Office would upon reading the letter of protest, make a U-turn in their favour, but this was not so.

Meg Hillier, the Home Office official, stated that Phil Woolas’ announced decision would still stand. Woolas had said:

“The UK Border Agency will therefore be starting work over the autumn on a process aimed at normalising our returns policy to Zimbabwe, moving towards resuming enforced returns progressively as and when the political situation develops…”

Many Zimbabweans who are awaiting a decision on their cases fear that they will be deported back to Zimbabwe in view of the instability still in the country. Before this announcement, a temporary reprieve allowed Zimbabwean asylum seekers exemption from forced deportation. The asylum organisation which had made the protest is the South Yorkshire Migration and Asylum Action Groups (SYMAAG) Click here for the full letter from the Home Office (ZimEye, Zimbabwe) [Pictured:Asylum seekers protest in London]

I WILL SUPPORT ZANU PF TILL I DIE;l did not go to school but now lm a proud farmer with a 3000 hectares farm what more do u want on this earth l have got 3000 goats and everyday l kill one to eat nemhuri yangu chandichada chiii
    Zimbabwe for Zimbabweans.
My friend I do not mean to disrespect you, I feel there is something you are not telling us in your figures here. You mentioned that you have 3000 goats in your farm on the 7th of December now on the 3rd of January you are left with 2500 goats see the above quotes by yourself. Is this real my friend or there is something you are not telling us, how big is your family? Can your family consume 500 herds of goats in a space of 4 weeks? Are you in business? What is the nature of your business if it is there at all? What you say in the above comments it does make sense to some extent, but the figure you are giving us leaves us with a lot of questions, which can only be answered by you and you alone I say. Tell Zimbabweans who are in Diaspora the truth so that whatever decisions they take basing on your comments will be well valued, unlike creating a situation whereby people will come running back home only to find that things are not as you put down.

Samukeliso thanks for your comments ,well l really appreciate what u have said ,here is are the facts ,l was also one of the people who was staying in UK for the past 7 years,l was married to a british woman until l decided it was better l go to my country were im more respected as a person, ndakangoti even nyangwe iri mari its better isare zvayo,it was of no use kugara urimupfumi iwe usingafare mupfungwa so l decided to come home ,ndikasviko pihwa purazi nehurumende, from there ndakatanga kutenga mbudzi hadzi kumaruzhevha bijana bijana just imagine it was for funny but after 3 years dzakatanga kuwanda zvekuti right now lm also giving other new farmers for free, the other part of the farm l decided to share it with my brother who is also doing chicken business ,my brother money is in Africa l do not want to lie to u as long as u have the capital l tell u there is no need to stay in diaspora,lm not saying vanhu vese vakapuhwa mapurazi there are making good use of them panewo vamwe mabenzi who cannot fully utilise these farms.to those in diaspora my advice is that its better people you come home and start something even from skretch lm telling you ,rather than kutambisa nguva vanhu vakangomirira home office ndofunga urikunyatsondinzwisisa, those people are wasting there lives everyday,as for ZANU PF of course l support them kunyaya yeminda but l do not agree with them like what hapenned to last elections it was unfair l believe tsvangirai won those elections BUT WHAT CAN WE DO THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO UNONGOZIVA POLITICS DZEMUZIMBABWE;IWEWE JUST FORGET ABOUT POLITICS WONGOITA CONCENTRATE ON YOUR LIFE VANHU NGATISEYEI POLITICS KUMA POLITICIANS ISU TOITA CONCENTRATE MUHUPENYU HWEDU;I hope urikundinzwisisa shaa l might not be perfect but ndirikungozamawo shamwari, vanhu vari mu diaspora l tell u for those without papers home its best shamwari, forget zvekusekwa nevanhu ,munhu wese anehupenyu hwake,as for mbudzi lm giving people shamwari as long as u like,l hope ndakupindura shamwari ,lm sorry kana ndichinge ndisina kunyatso jekesa zvandataura apa,UYEZVE IM NOT HAPPY KUONA MY FELLOW ZIMBABWEANS VACHITAMBUDZIKA KUDAI HANDIZIKUFARA U WILL FORGIVE ME PA STATEMENT YANDAKATI MUNONYANYODA VARUNGU STEREKI I BELIEVE NDAWANZA

Donkey you are so hilarious, how much did you buy your farm? I have just about heard enough of this cold country. To be honest I haven’t suffered as much as some of my fellow countrymen.Yes I have heard some heart-breaking stories about asylum-seekers still waiting in a limbo bt am sure they can handle it. Even with that announcement I dont think anyone will be deported, take my word for it!!!
The only way to survive this side if you don’t have papers, grap an OAP (old age pensionier) with a house of course and some savings in his/her account and get pregnant or if you are a guy invest back home as much as possible in case of any inventuality…honestly this side we are all in the same level but you have to be very clever because these white people don’t want to give papers to BLACKS official!!! But bantu benkosi don’t give up you are not going anyway anytime, we are here to stay!!!. Donkey how much did you buy your farm & your 2500…I mean 3000 goats. LoL

  19. samukeliso on Wed, 6th Jan 2010 6:29 pm

Thank for coming back to me on that at least you have cleared some air on the outstanding issues which I fully agree with you. So in other words part of that 500 herd of goats was donated to other fellow Zimbabweans who wanted to engage in similar projects while the others you utilized for your own family consumption I hope I listened very good and I mean very good there, that is a very encouraging episode though at the moment we can not verify those claims for security and other related issues, it is my first and if not the last time to hear of a Zimbabwean who can donate livestock’s for free to the needy, that’s the spirit of community we like to here from Zimbabweans thanks a lot for that, thanks again for the words of encouragement you have shared with the readers on this forum. Your farm is really massive looking at this figure 3000 hectares which is equivalent to 30 000 000 square meters meaning that each of the 4 sides in your farm is 5.477km and going around the farm i.e. the perimeter works out to 22 km and each goat of the 3000 goats as you mentioned utilizes 10 000 square meters or 1 hectare or two football grounds, I am surprised even though you have rented the other potion to your relation this is still massive.
