Abductions Mukoko Morgan Tsvangirai Injuries ZAPU ZANU PF army killingsPublished: February 9, 2010
Harare(ZimEye)- The Movement for Democratic Change (MDC-T) will at the weekend tell the SADC official facilitator to the present unity talks with Zanu PF, President Jacob Zuma of South Africa, that the only way out of the present quagmire are speedy internationally-supervised free and fair elections, sources in the party said Tuesday.
The highly-placed sources revealed that party president and Zimbabwean prime minister Morgan Tsvangirai was ‘totally fed up’ with Mugabe’s antics, which included ‘backtracking on agreements whenever it suited him’ and ‘trying to undermine the prime minister’s authority’. The latest gaffe, which seems to have been ironed out at an emergency executive meeting Friday was Mugabe telling all ministers and officials that they now have to report directly to him, through the vice-presidents. Tsvangirai is said by sources to have furiously shot the directive down, insisting that in terms of the Global Political Agreement of 2008, he superintends the cabinet and they can not report to anyone else without violating the terms of that treaty.
In an interview published in the party’s official mouthpiece, The Changing Times on Tuesday, party spokesman Nelson Chamisa(picture) seemed to confirm the widely held position that Zimbabwe should just go for fresh elections. This is after Mugabe allegedly threw spanners into every opportunity for change offered him by his powerful former opponents, who beat him in the last elections in 2008 but accommodated him in a transitional regime to effect peaceful transfer of power.
Chamisa said, “We hope the facilitation team will unlock the logjam so that we have all outstanding issues cleared and resolved once and for all. If that fails, there is only one option, putting in place an electoral regime to facilitate for free and fair elections and that is what will give real change to Zimbabwe. We are hoping the facilitation will be successful, if not, let’s agree on a framework for free and fair elections.”
Government sources said Mugabe was probably finally beginning to see the tornado forming at the end of the horizon against him.
South African government sources have already leaked information about Zuma’s intentions to guarantee an election in Zimbabwe in 2011. Zuma is expected to take the proposals to Europe when he visits in March, ahead of the football World Cup.
Meanwhile, Zimbabweans are preparing for a massive campaign of disobedience after civil servants went on strike last week, paralysing all official services. (Zimeye, Zimbabwe)

We want elections as soon as possible.People who lost elections were given a new lease of live at the expense of voters and these people are so arrogant as they are no longer accountable to the people

Well elections if under the July ‘08 conditions will not be a good thing.Hopefully the minimal conditions will be enforced with the help of SADC, AU and the international community (you know who)Then Zimbabwe can get rid of Bob.
I doubt that the snake will allow free and fair elections. But again by signing the GPA Mugabe lost part of that role.So in that sense, he is a goner! Just maybe
