Police fail to bring Bennett to court

Bulawayo (ZimEye) – THE MDC National Treasurer and Deputy Minister for Agriculture-designate Roy Bennett is still detained by police after the law enforcement agents in Mutare failed to bring him to court.
In a statement, the MDC said Bennett was scheduled to appear in court today facing trumped up charges of insurgency and terrorism.
Bennett was arrested at the Charles Prince Airport in Mt. Hampden in Harare on his way to South Africa on Friday.
The MDC said police in Mutare could not bring Bennett to court as they had been called to Harare on urgent business.
”The MDC views the arrest of Bennett on trumped up charges as politically motivated by Zanu PF, which is failing to show sincerity to the Global Political Agreement and the formation of an inclusive government last week,” read the statement.
”In 2006 the police arrested the new Minister of Home Affairs Hon. Giles Mutsekwa on the same allegations being leveled against Hon Bennett, but his case was thrown out at the courts due to lack of evidence.”
The MDC said the party abductees still in remand prison and that of Bennett poses a real threat to the health and life of the inclusive government.
The party urged the inclusive government to immediately deal with the release of Bennett and the abductees.
”The MDC also calls upon the inclusive government to immediately find a political outcome to the issue surrounding the abductees and Hon. Bennett,” said the MDC.

Recently we were crying for this whiteman`s release after he assaulted China***** (sa).
Look he is back again in Prison this time with a serious charge and we start again to scribble all toilets, Bridges in short all public places, scribble clearly words begging for his release.
Initially, why did he returned to Zimbabwe? He simply needs to be a dead hero like Tongogara, Chitepo and the likes. Bennett used his Tsapfu mudhara to think brain dziripo.
