Abductions Mukoko Morgan Tsvangirai Injuries ZAPU ZANU PF army killingsPublished: June 7, 2009
Nkayi (ZimEye) – The MDC led by Deputy Prime Minister Arthur Mutambara(right pictured) suffered a heavy blow at the weekend after the party’s Nkayi District executive and 23 councillors resigned from the organisations to join the other MDC led by Prime Minster Morgan Tsvangirai.
The MDC officials crossed the floor on Saturday afternoon in protest of the suspension of Nkayi South MP Abdenico Bhebhe.
One of the Nkayi councillors Kufekwezwe Ncube, told a media conference that the party leadership failed to explain the suspension of Bhebhe, a move, which showed disrespect of local leadership.
“Since the leadership has not come to us nor communicate to us before going to the media we are also following suit by going to the media and tell them that we no longer have anything to do with them,” he said.
He declined that they were against any suspension of a party member, as they do not condone indiscipline.
The MDC District chairman Jabulani Manqonda Ncube said the suspension of Bhebhe meant the suspension of the entire Nkayi executive and thus the resignation of party officials in the district.
Bhebhe was suspended together with other six party officials for allegedly bringing the party into disrepute. The officials are denying the allegations (ZimEye, Zimbabwe)
