ANC will rule until Jesus comes -Jacob Zuma thumbnail

South Africa’s Council of Churches (SACC) has issued a statement stating that it is ‘deeply concerned’ about President Jacob Zuma’s repeated statement that the ruling party will rule ‘until Jesus comes’. Zuma uttered these words this while addressing thousands of supporters in Witbank, Mpumalanga, at the weekend.

Zuma was in Mpumalanga, thanking supporters for voting for the ANC during the recent general elections. SACC General Secretary Eddie Makhue ahs said Zuma is at liberty to consult with religious leaders, particularly the SACC, if something is religiously controversial.

“It is important that if something is religiously controversial that the president uses his liberty to consult with the religious leaders and particularly with us in the SACC, we have indicated our preparedness to engage with the president on this matter and we have seen in our human history in other parts of the world particularly in South Africa that through dialogue, we are better abled to resolve issues of contention.”

However, this is not the first time South Africa’s president has been slammed over his ‘Until Jesus’ statement. He was recently criticised by religious leaders shortly before the presidential elections when he invoked the name of Jesus to illustrate the ruling party’s hold on power. His controversial statements are also viewed to be smewhat similar to statement by Zimbabwe’s president Robert Mugabe who stated that ‘only God’ can remove him out of power.

And why is SACC concerned is Jesus not coming, Who knows when he is coming and whats the guarantee that ANC will be or not be ruling. To me that a statement of Faith and its good faith for ANC especially coming from a leader. No one owns the name Jesus and no one should act like they are a gurdian to its use or abuse. Zuma is creation of God and has the same right to Jesus’ name as is any other human being.

If Eddie wants publicity ,he ha to get it the other way not opening his mouth for the sake of opening. He has no right to be consulted…………I think this guy is out of his mind and he needs immediate medical attention! How on this earth can someone claim to be the representative of the heavens, which controversial issue is he talking about? We all know what these people do when they think that people dont see them. Zuma you are GREAT, at least u know that Jesus is coming and that befits u as a PRESIDENT of the Republic of South Africa. At least appreciates the presence of Jesus in his life and that of his entourage.

Eddie pls APOLOGIZE. Anyway its ur opinion, but know that u dont have the keys to the Heavens and u will also be judged by the Almighty, fairly , for ur utterances.

    Danki……..

Mugabe had that same problem like Zuma. The good party of South Africa, if your term expires you leave the presidency. Babamunini vaBruce, Chatunga Matibili from Matebeleland anetsa.

  13. Mugabe on Sat, 27th Jun 2009 11:06 am

THE SERPENT what has Matebeleland got to do with this. Stupid racist *****. Zuma is Zulu for your own information Leave Matebeleland alone moron. Go to the diamonds fields and kill your brothers. Your brother killed enough Ndebeles now its time for him to turn the tide to your province. Mugabe is great in that regard.

JayZee is merely opining his dearly cherised wish that the ANC retains power or the party of government for as long as possible. People should not be pysched out or dismayed by this. If you are over awed or cowed by this statement you are already conditioned to fulfil Jay Zee’s wish. Pushing the ANC out is simply a matter of campaigning and getting the requisite number of votes on election day.
