In this series issue ZimEye reveals the person behind the notorious Facebook page named as ‘Mai Jukwa.’
This comes after a two week intensive investigation by some detectives in the US state of Washington. This series of ZimEye articles brings to closure a highly controversial pre-election frenzy in which several senior ZANU PF stalwarts have been named (and said to be shamed), through publicly-displayed personal details on social networking fora. The information includes private mobile phone details leaked, just as also various graphic parodies created to destroy the MDC-T party and its leader Morgan Tsvangirai’s image have been uploaded onto social networking website, Facebook and video sharing service Youtube.
Beyond just naming, ZimEye can exclusively reveal the exact location of the cuprits of this campaign, and will be also informing our valued readers of all their notorious movements in and out of the US. At present they are in a famous US location that this publication can now exclusively reveal. The investigation helps to confirm that Mai Jukwa is actually based in the Diaspora and not in Zimbabwe as previously speculated by some media houses and social commentators.
Many had assumed Mai Jukwa’s writing style could resemble that of President Robert Mugabe’s spokesman, George Charamba, as others pointed to the Prof Jonathan Moyo. Some even suggested junior personalities like Psychology Maziwisa. But ZimEye can reveal that Jukwa is none of the above.
Two ZANU PF figures appearing in the social networking media under disguised names of Amai Jukwa and Baba Jukwa have recently emerged with guns blazing as they have embarked on an uncalled for expose of private information underlining some senior government officials and private mobile phone numbers on social networks like Facebook. To add salt to an already bleeding wound, the duet has even asked the world to phone the named politicians. Their written articles, video posts and comments have caused some anxiety, disgruntlement and raised a lot of questions especially among the current political players who have been keen to pin them down. Using technology, they have released acrid vitriol and caused many to land into the sea of discomfort.
The Detectives’ work has finally brought closure to these culprits’ cyber bullying activities.

The motive for such folks to do that remains an enigma. Their knowledge of facts and figures and contact numbers is so amazing that it does not need the weatherman to describe which way the wind is blowing. Baba naMai Jukwa have had access to politiburo data and privileged intelligence. They know more than an ordinary person and have used that access to information to maliciously perform a smear campaign.
There could be some issues that the so called Jukwa family have experienced with the named victims of cyber bullying. Rather than for them to address the issues from within, they have decided to play faceless cowardice and used the fearless arsenal of an internet-wide forum. Such a smear campaign sounds unjustified, improper, uncouth and immature.
All this sensitive and private information voluntarily broadcast to the world through a reckless fashion and at times disregard of true facts simply tells a bigger story. Now the public gets to know about inside ZANU PF dealings and games. To many this is not fresh news. Everyone already knows the story behind ZANU (PF). The history of Zimbabwe is written on the wall. Everyone knows why we are here today.
It is not anyone’s business to describe the impact of ZANU (PF) politics, let alone drive a wedge between Welshman Ncube and Morgan Tsvangirai. In any case this is why there are campaigns and people get information to choose which party they want to align with. This is also the very reason someone should abstain from making incisive information. There is no need to fan fires of hate or violence through targeting a certain individual. Politics has always been a filthy game. No one should be a scapegoat. Those who fail to get their dues should not come out complaining to the world for mercy because in good days they celebrate quietly.
Politics is a calling and has its own demands and challenges. You cannot succeed by exposing someone’s secrets to the world. That is puerile and naïve. Abraham Lincoln, a past US President once noted, “You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.” If anyone has issues with the game then it is best to stay professional or follow similar tracks without sounding catalytic or driving the wedge.
This is also a time when Zimbabwe needs peace. Obviously one party should emerge a winner after elections. There are four parties as we speak. ZANU (PF), MDC-T, MDC, MKD. One of these will give Zimbabwe a leader. The voter will decide. But the same voter does not need to be fed with opium of hate or hateful propaganda. There should be ethics, constructive considerations and realism. Social dynamics should always be coated with messages of civility and the call for peace, respect and love. At the end of the day we are all Zimbabweans hoping to create better days for our nation at large. There is no need to go populist through cyber bullying.
