(OPINION)There are very few occasions when ZANU PF finds itself in agreement with the MDC-T. Fortunately, the need to create massive employment is one of them.
Nevertheless, the difference between my party and the MDC-T which by the way is a fundamental difference, is that whereas ZANU PF talks of employment in the sense of creating real, tangible and sustainable jobs, what the MDC-T really means by employment is far from clear.
In 2009, Tsvangirai promised to create 1 million jobs but- and this might seem like a tired line- the sad truth is that our wretched former Prime Minister lied to the people of Zimbabwe. Instead of living up to his promise, Tsvangirai ended up creating more babies than jobs.
In this election, Tsvangirai is yet again promising to create 1 million jobs except this time, curiously, he says he will do so within the first 100 days of taking up office- a hard sale indeed, given that he is the same discredited politician who failed to do the same thing in 4 years.
Contrastingly, we are proud of our record as a party. For instance, when we redistributed over 12 million hectares of land to nearly half a million households in 2000, we created hundreds of thousands of real jobs.
Similarly, tens of thousands of jobs have been created since the start of the indigenisation programme and we expect that millions more will be created under a properly-run ZANU PF government. This is as it should be.
The truth is, my dear friends, that when Tsvangirai goes on about how he needs to create MORE jobs, what he really means is he wants MORE room to make MORE of his broken promises. This is treacherous. It is not how we want this country to be governed. It is not who we are as a people. It is unacceptable. But most important of all, IT IS B*******!
