The MDC-T party’s Secretary General Tendai Biti’s house was petrol bombed Monday night, ZimEye is informed.
The incident comes as calls for Tsvangirai to resign intensified amid numerous threats by a small group of youths voicing their desire to assault deputy treasurer Elton Mangoma and Biti.
Details of what actually took place were still vague at the time of writing but the bomb disposal unit and army were present at the house.
The petrol bomb is said to have exploded near the security wall close to where the guard patrols from. It is believed the attack was meant for the guard house which is close to the gatepost.
The security guard however managed to escape the flames, ZimEye was told.
On top of the gatepost are clear marks of the flammable liquid where it was splashed before the flames started.
A family member confirmed of the development to ZimEye, “The house was petrol bombed last night. The attack comes just after some men came in an unregistered car asking the security guard numerous questions about Tendai Biti where he is, and when he returns home” he said.
Attempts to reach Mr Biti himself were fruitless at the time of writing as his phone kept ringing without being answered. A comment from the investigating officers could not be obtained as well,as they were still in the process of gathering evidence.
Both Biti and Mangoma escaped an attack by marauding youths who were baying for their blood at Harvest House on Saturday 15th February. Both Biti and Mangoma had attended a meeting sanctioned by Tsvangirai for national leaders, but which the MDC leader also invited ordinary party members to attend.

Mr Sandal Master and others u are entitled to your opinion over who to support but why dont you leave those who want to support a party led by fools to support it. It makes them easier to defeat in an election. But the issue here is about who bombed Biti s house and whats the motive. The first theory that i may profer is zanu pf. 1 they declared through Munangagwa just after the elections that MDC was finished.
2 they have a track record of using bombs to eliminate opponents. 3 They capitalise on situations to distabilise
opposition parties though that maybe the rules of the game of politics. What i would like Biti to know is that whatever he is doing he is playing into the hands of zanu pf in aiding to distabilise the party and Mangoma too. The people who died for MDC will not be happy if these to people aid the death of the party. They will have died in vein. So whatever they do should not betray those people. If i were them i would rather retire from politics than yo betray the people. Thats why you see zanu pf talking about the revolution. They are talking about the people who died for a cause during the struggle for independence. So theirs is also a revolution where u should be guided by principle. I said this before and i will say it again that our task at hand is regrouping after the 31 July and the rest should then follow. The election was a distabilising event on its own so dont worsen things now.
On the face of it one can easily conclude that its an MDC infighting taken to another level. But its worth scratching the surface. This is politics. Other enemies may take advantage of the most oppportune time to further distablise the movement. Most importantly what does Tendai Biti think about the incident? I smell a rat.

There are several interesting observations about this incident:
(a) it bears uncanny resemblance to the previous incident when Biti was alleging that he survived a bomb attack by ZPF war veterans: Biti not being at home; Biti not being reachable on his phone; the pre-cast wall being the structure affected by the bomb; the damage to the wall being minimal
(b) coming after the succession squabbles bedevilling MDC-T, and the (attempted) assault of Biti, combined with the brutal attack on Mangoma, I’m more than 100% sure it’s an MDC-T job!! Or look at it this way: what would ZPF really gain politically from attacking Biti -a FORMER minister after all- when they have more than two-thirds majority in parliament??!! It’s an open secret that violence is the DNA of MDC-T!!
CIO and ZANU PF job to finish off the party thanks to the ill advised move by the deputy treasurer general . Perfect pretext for Zanu to strike. Mangoma is now Zanu agent . Politics of infiltration . Sure and simple .

This violence was inaugurated at Rudhaka Stadium by Mugabe himself. It is a desperate attempt to try and paint MDC as a violent party. All this instability in the party was caused by Mangoma who did not follow the laid rules and party procedures. MDC beware Zanu Pf are now capitalizing what they started with Mangoma. Better fire Mangoma from the party.
