Harare(ZimEye)Chinese nationals and their Asian counterparts now resident in Zimbabwe yesterday(Friday) joined their counterparts from the motherland and the world over in commemoration of their new year which this year falls on the 23rd of January.
It was all Chinese colours at the Africa Unit Square near the parliament building as the Chinese manifests it’s their presence in the country ahead of the western world which is becoming less visible in Zimbabwe.
This is their first ever celebrations in the country despite having the celebrations elsewhere, this could be a celebration of their dominance in Zimbabwe and Africa over other continents.

Though often called Chinese New Year, the annual celebration (also called the Lunar New Year or Spring Festival) is celebrated by Vietnamese, Korean and other Asian populations worldwide. It’s tied to the lunar-solar Chinese calendar and falls on different days every year.

While Zimbabwe’s traditional investors and their host countries have imposed economic and travel sanctions on the country and the ZANU (PF) leadership, Asian countries have come in as sanctions busters providing investment in the country.
However, Zimbabwean residents have blamed the Chinese for exploiting locals by giving meager wages while they can’t even put up any meaningful infrastructure.

    2. Chamatamba says:Tichagumisira tave kutongwa nama chinese muzim. Why not fight those who have colonised you for so long? Asi unotofunga kuti it’s God who made it like that?
    3. Anonymous says: I agree with Dzimai Moto, the Chinese are probably celebrating their re- colonization of Zimbabwe. Unfortunately, their methods are very ruthless, the use the whip and the gun to obtain results. Have you read history or wondered how roads were constructed here and whose slave labour was used? You still think it’s normal! Africa prospered during historical times when they were trading with India and China before the entry of Europeans! All historical cities on the Indian Ocean coast-line prospered during Africa-Far East trade before those you think have a God-given right to “rule” us!
Since 1652 when they came to the Cape, what have they done to those of your race, my brother? Wake up, enjoy the ride on Chinese-made cars, driving on Chinese roads, travel on Chinese funded railways, watch Afcon soccer on Chinese stadia while putting on Chinese-made suits. If you still cling on fading old empires, masarira babamudiki!

  5. Cheng xuan shi tang xhumn ching….Chinese to say, ‘We welcome you our chinese comrades to Zimbabwe. Please feel at home’. Cde Naked, how about all of you relocating to KwaZulu and leave space in Mat to resettle our Chinese friends?

  6. Isnt it sad that the only time Zimbos gather in Zim is when they come together to shout slogans against each( the PASI/PAMBERI hogwash). It was a bit better with the Warriors under the Late Fabisch, pple would at least follow the Warriors together. We seem to be the only country that “colonises” itself, while claiming to be under attack from colonizers

  7. OJ,
You know, you speak a lot of sanity. You are far and few in-between. If our traditional leaders had been empowered, there would have been much more interaction and discourse about things. We definitely would not be where we are, you are right. Kudos to you my brother. These people have manufactured history and led people astray and now have a white elephant, no one subscribes to their values.

  8. @Diliza, my brother, am sure we lost it when we failed to restore the traditional leadership after attaining independence.Royalty would have given us a sense of identity, something that would uphold values that define our nationhood, first at tribal level and eventually nationwide. These usually would have traditions that usually fit into a calender of festivties etc. That way the nation would gather and celebrate and get to dialogue without violence(for a change) I think the restoration of all our royal families is of paramount urgency so as to free our pple from political wolves that thrive on division and conflict. A sense of identity is needed or else we are gonna be stuck in this Cecil John Rhodes creation now called Zimbabwe. I know the narrow minded and the power drunk will be screaming “treason”.

  9. very poignant oj. what is a zimbabwean in the first place? it’s true that it is a manufactured thing because we have nothing in common, always bickering.

  10. Thumbs up from me,adds a little spice to Mugabes bland recipe. The contribution by other nationalities to what we have can only enrich us. There is a myriad of examples pointing that indeed this is true. For Zimbos, just look at those countries that you always run to. Diversity is magic.

  12. If the chinese can do the job better than ZANU PF, I see no reason why they cant rule Zimbabwe.
