Tsholotsho(ZimEye)-32 years after obtaining independence from Britain, Zimbabwe’s Local government Minister Ignatius Chombo, here has accused the former colonial masters of relegating rural communities during the pre-Independence (1980) era.
Chombo on the sidelines of a US$50 million launch for Rural Water and sanitation program in Tsholotsho on Thursday told UK Aid head Dave Fish in front of journalists and Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai, that Britain underdeveloped rural communities just before saying that sanctions worsened the situation.
“Whatever resources came out of the pre-independence economy was ear marked for the development of the few elite whites. Not in the urban areas only, even the blacks who were occupying fertile soils were removed and dumped in Gokwe and even here. In areas infested with Tsetse flies,” Chombo said.
He added:

HARARE residents drinking faeces for 2 years
Residents in the Harare and surrounding areas have been drinking literal faeces unknowingly for a whole two years, it was recently revealed. A statement by the Harare Residents Association stated that: “there is a burst sewer in Kambuzuma 6 near Tongogara stands that has been flowing for the past two years and when it rains it flows into streams that feed

“The development which was meant for blacks I have known none. I have been a Local Government Minister for more than 10 years, any developments, water, sanitation, schools; clinics only came to the people after independence. Those gains which we had after independence were reversed in 2000 when we had the land reform and the problems we had with our former colonial masters ending up in sanctions. All households had clean water, borehole, protected wells, and roads. There is nothing the former colonisers helped us with if you know one program during the colonial era tell me.”
UK Aid head in Zimbabwe Dave Fish had no kind response for Chombo .
“I suspect that Minister Chombo and I disagree on certain issue which happened during and after independence, and I am not here to apologise for certain historical issues raised here, but I think it’s important that this country looks forward, and does not blame current problems to history and look back. It is really encouraging to see Ministers from all parties to the inclusive government together here at this event. The international community, Britain included, wants to work with you and you should look forward rather than looking backwards, “he responded angrily.
UNICEF is going to be in charge of the WASH program which is going to benefit 2.5 million people from the country’s semi arid provinces.
Matebeleland North and South, Masvingo, Midlands and Mashonaland West are the five provinces which are going to benefit.
According to UNICEF results of the launch are going to be seen in the next 30 days as the development partners having already identified companies to drill and maintain bores in the area.
“Bringing safe water near homes will reduce time spent in collecting water and provides opportunities for poor families to engage in small-scale productive activities. It also reduces burdens which mount on women and girls in rural areas who are the main collectors of water,” UNICEF Country representative Dr Peter Salama said.
Blair toilets for most of the rural communities in the chosen provinces are also going to be constructed.(ZimEye, Zimbabwe)

  1. Chombo is a half witted idiot saying that the pre 1980 Government did nothing to develop the then Tribal Trust lands. I remember well the Irrigation Department sinking hundreds of bore holes in the Tsholotsho district in 1960 to 1970 years. The people in the area were given maize during the years of famin at that time. Chombo is just another theiving fat cat filling his pocket with money stolen from us.

  2. It hard to understand why a local governance issue should be escalated to a former colonial master. Only a zanu muppet would resort to such an unwarrented approach. A fool when he reigneth is trouble to the bitter end.

  3. “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”-Joseph Goebbels

  4. Cedric Shumba why do you hate your tribesman so much? Please take Madziya’s advice and you will find peace my Mthwakazi enthusiast, it’s never too late. When didn’t know that Ndebelelising you was going to detrimental to yourself to this extent.

  5. Tsano, you spineless shona cuntroach – it’s not about singing anyone’s praises! I respect any ambitious individual on this planet who goes out of his or her way to improve their lives and the lives of others. I support capitalism as opposed to socialism as the world has now moved into the 21st Century in their way of thinking. Unfortunately I cannot say the same about the shonas – they destroy instead of build, their motto in life is to “live by theft and rule through deceit and corruption”. I want no part of that demented outlook on life. Anyway! Why are all your shona brothers leaving Zimbabwe in their millions, you included, to work and live amongst the white folk in the UK and South Africa? I’m curious! You are a typical uneducated shona cuntroach that writes something before thinking about what you have written. That is why you will always remain house niggers for the rest of your lives. Some of us are far more ambitious and look past colour in order to achieve our ultimate goal in life – success. There is absolutely nothing successful about you useless idiots…..

  6. Xolani, not even if you paid me US$10 million would I run for President. “ALL” Zimbabwean politicians are thieves, liars, plunderers, looters & scum – Tsvangarai included!!! BUT! I tell you what, I will volunteer to be at the controls of the “Drone”! AND! Guess who would be my first target – these are the co-ordinates of his mansion and I will keep you guessing… 17*43’12” S 31*9’3″E. I will get more satisfaction knowing that those particular thieving occupants of that chinese built house no longer exist. In fact, they would be dust particles! Wait & see….

  7. This is proof that these thieving zanu /mdc savages prefer to live in squalor surrounded by disease and filth! These zanu / mdc savages don’t give a damn what anyone thinks – they will kill you tomorrow for the sake of holding onto power! Is this the norm amongst this shona tribe? If so, they can only be considered scum of the highest degree and not worth worrying about… Read this, the proof once again is in the pudding……
Front page headlines midweek screamed the shocking news that President
Mugabe’s trip to Brazil was costing the country seven million US dollars.
The President had gone to Rio de Janeiro in Brazil to attend a UN summit on
Sustainable Development. He was accompanied by a delegation of ninety two people.
The next day a friend of mine attended a meeting along with perhaps forty others at their local Municipality in Harare. Called an ‘All Stakeholders’ meeting the idea was for local council officials to tell us what they were doing with our money every month and to give residents of the town a chance to publicly air their views. This was a meeting that had been requested by residents months ago
and was finally happening. Only about twenty chairs had been provided for
members of the public and for the first hour and a quarter people shuffled
in and out.Four hundred people eventually attended – yes “20 chairs” At the start of the public part of the meeting residents were asked by the council to ‘keep emotions down’ but when it came our turn to talk there was an explosion of fireworks .’You are failing to meet your obligations’ was the message repeated again and again by residents to the council officials. Roads are falling apart; litter is piling up; refuse is everywhere; the street lights haven’t worked for years; sewage blockages are everywhere; water is only available for a couple of hours a day, trees are being chopped down in every direction. Month after month residents pay for services that they aren’t receiving and this is one angry town. Even the representative from the War Veterans Association spoke for almost half an hour and said that our beautiful town had become a filthy growth point – just another bantustan.
Most dramatic of all, however, was one statement which stuck in my mind. The
Chamber Secretary said he was pleased to announce that the town’s budget for
the year had been approved by Government. The budget for the whole year is “US$6.1 million”. The contrast between a towns entire annual budget being less than the cost of the President and his delegations trip to Brazil is dramatic. Less is more.

  8. Cedric is the man of the moment. He will be president in 2018 watch and see you Manicaland crap!

  9. What more can you expect from these uneducated savages like Chombo? He is a corrupt thief and works with the likes of Chiyangwa to enrich themselves at the expense of the masses. He is a typical zanu stuck record, blaming everyone else for the problems that zanu has created in the first place. Remember, they were handed Zimbabwe on a silver platter in 1980 with the second strongest economy in Africa. We all agree that as black Zimbabweans we were left out pre 1980, but not left out of everything. There was good and bad in all people then. But! At least we were given the option to take it all forward into the 21st Century with the West bending over backwards offering their financial support, know-how etc. to get us all to where we should be as a nation. Us black folk were offered an opportunity to right a dreadful wrong which the world was aware of and who were prepared to uplift our situation via numerous different schemes / projects etc. The British, as us educated folk would know, offered to resolve the land situation ( I have proof of everything that took place including all the payments made to the Zimbabwean Government) But! But! But! Little did we all know, mugabe and his corrupt bunch of thieves had an ulterior agenda. They were not interested in Nation building and were looking for any way out of doing so. The arms / rebel scenario which led to the 1980 massacres were the perfect opportunity for him and his cronies to remain rebellious. From then on it was anti West, anti white, anti Ndebele and anti-establishment. They proceeded on their looting spree. 32 years after Independence scum like Chombo still play the “Rhodesian record”. But! They play it amongst their own in a province they consider theirs and one that they have subsequently turned into a “zanu/mdc/chinese bantustan”. They are “NOT” interested in bringing you all water, giving you all electricity, educating all your children, giving you all healthcare! No! They want you “ALL” to remain subservient, uneducated and poor. In doing so they can control you through one very important commodity -“FOOD”. Food is their political tool – without it, they know you will starve to death, to get access to it they know you will have to support zanu! It is a typical savage mentality that has no place in the 21st Century, unless of course you are a zanu zealot who looks up to your masters!! There is “ONLY ONE” solution to the current situation – wait and see….

  10. The savages used to be arrogant kusite but Mthwakazians humbled all of them. They tried to ask the editor to help them delete some counter provocation comments but the editor always appeared to say you started it so finish it alone. Now they say everything with restraint, they have been tamed by the denial of the ZPF savage protection. Now we hardly find any savage to pick a serious fight with save for a new odd one who had not witnessed us humble one of theirs.
I will not debate with practising idiots like Marigamombe, son of a bit*h no I refuse. Now Jumpdaki quits until arrogance increases again Bayethe Nkosi zamakhosi bayethe!

  11. I like Cde Chombo’s bravery and l congratulate him for that. Truth always hurts and Cde Chombo said nothing more than just the truth. Mdc puppets including Cedrigay sing daily that the Whites gave us this country in 1980 in good shape and with everything working. The Tsholotsho water problem is said to have started in 1963 and the mdc feels Cde Jonathan Moyo and Zanu Pf are to blame and does that make sense? Well done Cde Chombo, keep on telling them as it is “in front of prime minister tsvangay”, who cares?
