We will work with the expelled MDC-T Mayors, vows Chombo
There was consternation in the city of Mutare last week Thursday when the Morgan Tsvangirai led MDC elected mayor of Mutare, Tatenda Nhamarare who has since been expelled from the party, openly celebrated Robert Mugabe’s presidency.
In what is interpreted as an open display of defiance against Tsvangirai, Nhamarare who Local Government Minister Ignatius Chombo has vowed to continue recognising as mayor, issued a printed press statement (pictured) both celebrating and congratulating Robert Mugabe for his announced victory in the just ended national elections.
Nhamarare had never been fielded by the party for the mayoral position and only crept in after the councilors had completed their secret ballot. tatenda_nhamarare
In the elections Robert Mugabe was announced as winner with 61,09 percent of the presidential votes cast, while Mr Tsvangirai managed only 33,94 percent. Zanu-PF took over 197 seats in the National Assembly, while MDC-T managed only 70, MDC two, with one independent completing the list. Apart from these results, remained those of local government where the MDC-T managed to take over several other towns and cities Mutare and Harare included but there have since been reports of alleged ZANU PF vote buying for mayoral positions in which Mutare was noted for among others even electing a ZANU PF deputy mayor when the majority of councilors were MDC-T.

In his celebratory message, Nhamarare said he was proud to be associated with President Mugabe and Vice President Joice Mujuru’s political leadership.
“The mayor, Councillor T Nhamarare, councillors, council officials and the citizens of the city, would like to express our warm and heartfelt congratulations to His Excellency, the President of the sovereign Republic of Zimbabwe, Cde R.G Mugabe and indeed the Honourable Vice President Cde Joice Teurai Ropa Mujuru for resoundingly winning the harmonised elections conducted on 31 July 2013,” his statement said.
It added: “The citizens of Mutare take great pride to be associated with such outstanding, God-given and principled political leadership with unparalleled contributions to both our struggle for our liberation and focus on nation-building, unity, empowerment for social and economic development.
“We sincerely wish them every success in the quest to indigenise, empower and improve the status of all Zimbabweans as a nation.”
Meanwhile, the MDC-T remained quiet on the matter and its spokesman Douglas Mwonzora did not respond to inquiries. But the party’s spokesman for Manicaland, Pishai Muchauraya however protested that Nhamarare’s is not even fit to qualify for mayor since he is not yet 40 years of age as stipulated in the new constitution.

  1. Inga upenyu mutoro ! Wat manner of mayor is this who is 31 years of age ? Nenhamo idzo vana samaita !!

  2. I think ku council yekwamutare kune ma hwindi chete because this idiot is not fit to be a mayor even Chombo akamusapota it will be against a constitution they spend money creating.

  3. This is just too shallow indeed. He is a big joke. But many MDC-Ts are nothing but lumpens. They got there for money so maybe he just did so for money too. The problem is their undeclared but very clear policy. “SAY ALL YOU CAN AGAINST MUGABE AND ZANUPF: JUST DO NOTHING TO GET POLITICAL POWER: SHOUT AS MUCH AS YOU CAN ABOUT ISSUES ESPECIALLY THE OBVIOUS ONES THAT PEOPLE CAN SEE. JUST DO NOT DO ANYTHING TO REMOVE ZANUPF” I know to those who genuinely but sadly believe in the party will be upset and they will insult me as they always do to opponents. But an objective analysis can prove this correct. Sad

  4. Nhamharare watengesa mwana wamai…. this is what the infamous Makuvarara former Harare City Mayor did…. She destroyed houses in towns working together with ZANU PF through Muramabatsvina madness. We will never forget you….time will tel.

  5. uyu tatenda uyu will never be my mayor ndimayor vekumba kwake.i will nt even respect hm he is a thief.tiri kuda kukufumura hure remunhu, does yo wife knw heeeeeee???????????kuti……

  6. atengwa munhu uyu kana kuti akatyisidzirwa nevanotonga nedemo-zpf. Soon pharoah shal be defeated.

  7. True the adage that u rear what u saw. In some pple’s obsession and blind quest to unseat Mugabe shoved democratic principles i-dont-knw where. Adopted th very method they claimed they were fightin in zpf against their ‘Cdes’ in th struggle. Bribes were used in th aftermath of th 2005 split. The ‘atidyei ‘ mentality is breeding us such unprincipled leaders & cadres. When we let Tswangirai trample upon th most fundamental tenet of democracy in 2005 we were encouraging th growth of such idiotic unprincipled behaviour

  8. Who is it that refuses to acknowledge this wise Mayor?
The goal of a leader is to do best FOR HIS PEOPLE!
The best way for the Mayor to serve his people is to align himself with fellow Africans WHO ARE COMMITTED TO DELIVERING FOR AFRICANS!
The MDC-Traitors are committed to delivering Zimboz & Zimbabwe to the pale dev!ls for a few stinking pieces of stolen euro silver!
To this end, the MDC-Traitors HAVE DEMANDED SANCTIONS FROM DEV!LS TO HARM AND KILL AFRICANS!
This Mayor makes a wise move this time. He should be applauded.

  9. KANA MUGABE ARUZA MADHUKU AWHINA THE SAME MAYOR WILL JUMP SHIP AND CONGRATULATE MADHUKU…HE IS NOT ALIGNED TO ANYONE AS LONG ACHIWANA CHIBHANZI…ALL THAT MATTERS TO HIM IS MONEY AND FAME ZVEKUI YAUYA THRU ANI DOESNT BOTHER HIM….IMBAVHA…HARD LUCKY MUTARE…WASU

  10. Ko zvautori Dhodhi nhai? Ungabve wanoita hutesi hwako ku party yakabirwa mavotes ayo na Mugabe MDC must do a serious clean-up I suggest.

  11. The way I see it there are just two possible explanations to this. One, that Nhamarare was never a true MDC-T supporter but was a ZANU stooge or spy. Two, that Nhamarare belongs to no party but is just an ambitious opportunist who’ll go to bed with whoever gives him the greater number of orgasms. Either way he’s a snake who should never be trusted again.

  12. I saw the advert and was pleasantly surprised. To tell the truth many people are now regreting having voted for MDC. The leadership is an embareasment.

  13. Come on people! This is a very simple ploy. This boy was planted to stand in as an MDC councilor and he is not the only one.
This whole thing was stage managed as part of the rigging exercise and the coming out of these boys is meant to be the final nail in the MDC coffin.
Apa ZANU has overplayed their cards and they risk exposing their various plots. I have always thought ZANU to be a bit more sophisticated than this.
    Remember Jelous Mawarire?
ome on ZANU, stop this boy talking otherwise all your plans will be exposed.

  14. KO ndo democrasy yachoka. How do you force adults to vote for your own choice as if they are your children or wives. Woda kukonzera maenza munyika ya samaanyika here? Mutare is manicaland provincial capital and zanu pf has the majority support in that province. LOGIC WOULD TELL YOU THAT what mutare councillors did was good to strike balance and benefit the people not Tsvangirai.
