Rusape farm invasions: Didymus Mutasa named thumbnail

Rusape(ZimEye) ZANU PF’s long serving member and government minister Didymus Mutasa’s has been named in the latest farm invasions in the Rusape area as agents descended on commercial farms in the past few days and are now arbitrarily terrorising every farmer they meet.

A farmer who sent a message to this reporter Saturday morning spoke of how Mutasa has threatened a number of farmers through a mob gang who are now patrolling the area and issuing ultimatums on the farmers.

Mutasa comes from the Rusape area, where his son was also buried recently.

Coming back tonight

Said the farmer yesterday morning:

“…they are now busy with Dolf DuToit. Started this morning with him and they said they are coming back tonight, we will keep you up to date.”

Farmer can’t take equipment with him

Gavin Woest is packing and he can’t take any equipment with him…” said the witness who revealed the plight of one farmer, Gavin Woest who was barred from taking his farming equipment with him.

Woest was told to leave his farm with neither a court order nor a government listing directive which are legal requirements for a lawful removal. According to Zimbabwe’s constitution, valued compensation is also supposed to be paid before a person can be removed by force. (ZimEye, Zimbabwe)

My husband and I (South Africans)were on holiday visiting with my cousin Gavin Woest when all of this erupted again. We first heard of Ray Finaughty and his family been “thrown off” of their farm on Christmas Eve. While the community was helping them move, Gavin (bear in mind that this farm has been in the family for over 50 years) then heard that he would be next. You can imagin the tension that the family went through the next couple of days just waiting. It was then on the 28/12 that a “messanger” was sent to advise that “they” are coming. My husband and I then had to move from the farm to another famimily member in Harare. The Woest’s then had Mutasa with one of his wife’s come visit. After tedious negotiations etc, they were then told that all the could take was their personal goods from the 2 houses by 3pm Saturday. The farm equipment, togther with equipment from Gavin’s carpentary workshop had to stay.
The Police will not react, as their is government officials involved!!
One wonders who Magabe, Mutasa, and the likes think they are.
The sad thing is that not only is it the white families effected but also all the farm workers and their families that are now not earning any wages and can not feed themselves.

    Zimbabwe for Zimbabweans.
My friend I do not mean to disrespect you, I feel there is something you are not telling us in your figures here. You mentioned that you have 3000 goats in your farm on the 7th of December now on the 3rd of January you are left with 2500 goats see the above quotes by yourself. Is this real my friend or there is something you are not telling us, how big is your family? Can your family consume 500 herds of goats in a space of 4 weeks? Are you in business? What is the nature of your business if it is there at all? What you say in the above comments it does make sense to some extent, but the figure you are giving us leaves us with a lot of questions, which can only be answered by you and you alone I say. Tell Zimbabweans who are in Diaspora the truth so that whatever decisions they take basing on your comments will be well valued, unlike creating a situation whereby people will come running back home only to find that things are not as you put down.
