It was all theatre and drama at the MDC-T’ party’s Harvest house offices in Harare after Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai on Tuesday suddenly fired senior aides of his MDC-T party.
Sources told ZimEye Tuesday afternoon:
“Hot development – Ian Makone has been demoted. James Maridadi and Muriritirwa cast onto the streets.
The commander in chief then in turn militantly brought to Harvest house Mudzingwa who was fighting with Makone.”
Speculation was rife that this development is a direct result of personal pressure from Tsvangirai’s new wife Elizabeth now popularly referred to as ‘Queen Elizabeth’.
Ian Makone was Tsvangirai’s chief of staff and he is known for having presided over the media disaster which bedeveled Tsvangirai over the PM’s love life last year after he lied that Tsvangirai had not paid a bride price to Locardia Karimatsenga’s family. His wife, Theresa was also allegedly an architect in facilitating the affair according to reports. Fired ... James Maridadi
The sudden reshuffle now brings Tsvangirai’s special adviser, Gandhi Mudzingwa, to Harvest House in what is believed to be a promotion according to insiders.
Tsvangirai’s Principal Director for Policy Implementation, Lazarus Muriritirwa, who was dubbed “Tsvangirai’s Pimp” has been fired. In the same vein, former radio DJ, James Maridadi reported to be Ian Makone’s nephew, was also fired. He had retained a muddy reputation amid rumours that he was caught bedding an unnamed woman in Tsvangirai’s hotel suite in South Africa which subquently led to a demotion.
Rumours claimed that James Maridadi was another “pimp” of the PM so with this new relationship, there are two apsects to consider, firstly that Elizabeth does not trust James anymore.
Another possible cause was claimed to be that Ian Makone is related to Lorcadia Karimatsenga, so the relations could be affecting their political functions and Makone is facing a double-edged predicament from relations and in the workplace.
The drama of the development was also enflamed by the media gag on Tsvangirai’s top aides concerning the matter, something which caused emails to start flying back and forth amid a rough mixture of joy and sadness. One official said – “this is very confidential and until you get the formal details from the President, please do not even ask”.
When approached for a comment, Tsvangirai’s spokesman Luke Tamborinyoka simply replied:
“The Prime Minister reserves the right to reorganise his office staff, restructure cabinet deployments and as MDC leader can re-order party deployments. If what you are saying is true, then that means there will be a formal statement soon. That’s all we are saying for now.”

Another source however revealed to ZimEye that the development is nothing new as it was well planned in advance.”There is nothing to this development. It’s something that has been in the pipeline towards elections.” ZimEye is also reliably informed over the past 6 months Tsvangirai has been musing reorganising his party structures in preparation for the upcoming referendum and elections in 2013.
A commentator however said: “Makone’s rumored control of Tsvangirai’s issues after the initial sponsorship (funds to run for office around the 2000 era) has become unbearable. Time for him to take a hike because he can;t be misleading him over water under the bridge. There should be a limit. The alleged flip flop and poisonous advice had taken its toll on Morgan and it’s about time he found new advisors and re-earn his “street credit” as Niggers wanna casually put it.”
