INTERNATIONAL-stripThe German and French governments yesterday carried out emergency meetings and have begun preparing to send their intelligence officers to the US after several documents were said to have leaked to Europe revealing US surveillance operations and directed spying on German chancellor Angela Merkel.
Several German intelligence officials are now heading to the US to assess how far and how much spying the US have been carrying out.
The development came also as the French government announced it would take actions of protest against the US government over the leaks.
The leaks came about after former NSA officer Edward Snowden leaked a chunk of documents reportedly ‘revealing’ US government activities Snowden says are unethical and unacceptable.
