(London)Humanitarian Intervention is part of International Law and in cases where human rights are violated, military intervention is fully justified, a former United States government Assistant Secretary of State has said.
Speaking on the occasion of the withdrawal of the US army from Iraq, Colleen Graffy said that it was right for the US government to invade Iraq and remove former dictator Saddam Hussein whose regime was toppled by the US army in March 2003.

Graffy who was in favour of the Iraqi war said even if she were voting for the Iraqi war today, she would still vote for a military invasion as before.
“Definitely in favour;” she said
“I think people have forgotten that there were up over sixteen United Nations security council resolutions against Saddam Hussein after invading Kuwait, and they included that he needed to give up weapons of mass destruction, not that the West needed to go in and play inspector in looking for them…”
Graffy said that the Iraqi invasion was first contemplated during the former US president Bill Clinton’s tenure.
“…surprising to say the United States looked at a liberation Act under Clinton. And so from the United States perspective,  and  I understand well the concerns here in Britain, but in the United States the concern was that there should be a change of regime  for Saddam Hussein.
When she was quizzed further on the views of British politicians, Graffy said:
“Well the view here was very much focused on weapons of mass destruction …because humanitarian intervention is actually an international law” she told a BBC journalist on Thursday night.
Graffy spoke as it was revealed that since March 2003, more than 1.5 million American soldiers have served in Iraq and more than 30,000 men and women were wounded with nearly 4,500 who gave their lives, in the war the toppled former dictator Saddam Hussein(ZimEye, UK)

  1. Yes! America wishes to dominate the globe and she’s hell bent on this pursuit. Politically, morally and all – interestingly she is also spreading her sick culture of HOMOSEXUALITY, BESTIALITY, BIRDIALITY, etc. But how can we resist when we are enjoying her economic dominance with the US dollar being token for our energy and expertise? Surely we can’t choose and pick what to benefit from Mighty America. She says “TAKE ALL OR NONE”. Cry my beloved Earth!!

  3. Just to clarify my remarks on SKY TV on Monday about the Iraq War: I actually said that international humanitarian intervention is still very much developing in international law. That is why the British focus was on the WMD in Iraq and not on humanitarian intervention.
The US, on the other hand, had passed the Iraq Liberation Act under President Clinton. More information on that can be found here:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraq_Liberation_Act
Humanitarian intervention has developed through what has happened in Kosovo and more recently in Libya but it is far from being an accepted part of international law. The default position is respect for state sovereignty. The problem is when heads of state and governments are oppressing, killing, and abusing their own people–what should the international community do? Stand by and do nothing or try and help? Each case is different and has to be balanced by concern for people and respect for state sovereignty. Syria is an example of the dilemma the international community faces and clearly all sorts of pressures are being put on Syria in hopes that that will stop the bloodshed.
I hope that helps–always tough to explain complicated subjects in a short TV interview…
For those interested, this is what I wrote about the legality of war with Iraq: http://bit.ly/dx2mVv

  4. Since when do devils (who claim descent/evolution from beasts) know anything about human virtues, or the Natural Laws governing human behavior?
The pale devils DO NOT! And never have!
Nothing profound, good and lasting ever come out of inauspicious Europe. And nothing EVER WILL!
So be not deceived, Zim Patriots!
The ignorant, delusional, destructive LYING & VIOLENCE-LOVING warmongers of Europe will, in their minds, justify ANY EXCUSE FOR VIOLENCE!
What was the violation of so-called ‘human rights’ that caused the pale devils to first invader Africans generations ago?
That’s right! There was no nonsensical ‘human rights’ issues that gave right to european & arab invasions of INNOCENT Africans.
The pale devils INVADE OTHERS ACCORDING TO THEIR BEASTLY & BARBARIC NATURE!
So all this devilish talk of ‘human rights violation as reason to invade’ are worthless words from the mouths of LIARS and fools, to the ears of those who are asleep in folly.
Zimboz who are awake will be able to see through the pale devils. Their history of ignorance, delusion, deceit and destructiveness is too transparent.

  5. Mageza. Don’t be stupid! What genocide are you referring to? How many dissidents were killed during Gukurahundi? Wasn’t the government of a young Zimbabwe fighting against armed dissidents who were hell bent on destabilizing Zimbabwe? Were the dissidents carrying bibles, flowers and honey or arms??
To hell with people like you who just jump onto the bandwagon and fail to think or reason for themselves. Idiot!
