IS T.B. JOSHUA A REAL PROPHET?

Published: April 8, 2012

commentComment

At the news of the death of Malawian President Bingu wa Mutharika, one of the things that sprang to the minds of many was a much publicised prophecy from Nigerian Prophet T.B. Joshua about the impending death of an African Head of State.

On Sunday 5th February 2012, Joshua stated live on his Christian television station, Emmanuel TV, “In April… we should pray for one African head of state, president, against a sickness that will likely take life – sudden death. It is a sickness being kept in the body for a long time.” The declaration sparked debate and speculation within many African countries with numerous media outlets reporting on the prophecy.

Earlier this week on Sunday 1st April, T.B. Joshua reiterated the prophecy, saying, “What I’m saying is very close now. Whether you like it or not, pray for your leaders. A head of a nation, I’m seeing sudden death as a result of sickness. Pray. This is Africa, not even West Africa.” In line with the prophet’s prediction, Mutharika died suddenly of a cardiac arrest on Thursday morning, just four days after Joshua had said the event was imminent.

The incident is being seen as a verification and vindication of Joshua’s prophetic gift, as well as sparking online debate about the role and relevance of prophets and prophecies in today’s age.

Research shows that the same T.B. Joshua who prophesied the death of President Mutharika also has a rich history of accurate prophetic declarations which provide both credence and context to this prediction. The following is a snapshot of a few of the prophecies he has given and how they came to pass, which can be viewed on Emmanuel TV, The SCOAN’s Website, YouTube channel and Facebook page.

ZAMBIAN PRESIDENT’S DEATH:

On Sunday 29th June 2008, Joshua said, “Pray for one of your leaders that will be rushed out of the country… I see the body being rushed out in order to save this soul. I’m seeing a flag. Is it flying down?” On Tuesday 1st July 2008, Former Zambian President Levy Mwanawasa was rushed to a hospital in Paris, France where he died after suffering a stroke.

In the same service on Sunday 29th June 2008, he said, “I’m seeing a hero, famous and popular… being saved – suddenly was saved from death. Let us pray on Tuesday and Thursday – let’s capture Wednesday…”. Three days later on Wednesday 2nd July 2008, the former Colombian presidential candidate Ingrid Betancourt was rescued after 6 years of captivity in the Colombian jungle.

PAKISTAN PRESIDENT RESIGNS

On Sunday, 4th May, 2008, T.B. Joshua prophesied concerning the nation of Pakistan. This was a follow up to the call for prayer he made on March 23, 2008 for the same nation. “I’m looking at the signature. a kind of signature – for somebody to sign and say, Hey, I’m resigning. What is the meaning of that?” On Monday 18th August 2008, in confirmation of the prophecy, President Pervez Musharraf announced his resignation as the President of the nation, Pakistan.

When the Ghanaian presidential elections were to be held in December 2008, Prophet T.B. Joshua prophesied on 26th October 2008, “We are praying for the nation Ghana… I see them recounting and re-voting again…a situation where we vote here and they say they must recount it, they must vote it again…” On 3rd January 2009, Professor John Evans Atta Mills was announced the winner after a vote which needed to be held three times before a president could be determined. Atta Mills came to The SCOAN following his inauguration to testify that Joshua had told him specific details of his three-round victory, culminating in his victory in January.

On Sunday the 24th May 2009, Prophet T.B. Joshua revealed that he was seeing “something that looks – mystery. People have never seen. In appearance, it’s looking small. But not in your country here, where ordinarily you cannot reach.” On 23rd July 2009 an amateur astronomer in Australia discovered an impact scar on planet Jupiter. It appeared very small on the cameras but in fact was the same diameter as planet Earth. This discovery caused a stir in the global scientific community.

MICHAEL JACKSON’S DEATH:

On Sunday 4th January 2009, Joshua spoke about a great star about to embark on a journey of no return. “I’m seeing a great star. In his own area, he’s famous – he’s known everywhere. Great – too great… I see something will begin to happen to that star which may likely end in him going on the journey of no return.” Just over a month later on Sunday 22nd February 2009, Joshua continued to call for prayer for the individual in question, stating that the star was “too young to leave your midst.” On Thursday 25th June 2009, Michael Jackson, the international music icon and most famous pop star of modern times, died following a cardiac arrest in Los Angeles, California. The world was stunned by his passing at the early age of 50.

On Sunday 13th December 2009, T.B. Joshua said, “I see an attempt on one of the presidents of one of the great nations…Pray for protection. I see a narrow escape – very narrow, too narrow. But the whole thing failed.” Merely hours later, on that same evening, an attempt was made on Italian President Silvio Berlusconi’s life when he was assaulted with a metallic object at a campaign rally in Milan. He narrowly escaped with minor injuries.

POLISH PLANE CRASH:

On Sunday 21st March 2010, Joshua prophesied about an impending air disaster, “I was in a vision and I saw where a balloon was full of people. It just lost control in the air… I’m seeing people that matter, government officials, they were inside the balloon. They are innocent souls…” The following week on Sunday 28th March, he further explained that he saw a flag being brought down with two colours, one of which was white. On Saturday 10th April, 2010, Polish President, Lech Kaczynski, the First Lady, the Chief of Army Staff, the Chairman of The Bank of Poland and many other prominent Polish Government Ministers were killed when their plane crashed in Russia. In an incident described as the most horrific in the nation’s history since World War II, the white and red Polish flag was lowered in honour of the fallen.

NIGERIAN ELECTIONS PUSHED FORWARD:

On August 1, 2010, Prophet T.B. Joshua prophesied concerning the nation of Nigeria and their upcoming elections. “I’m hearing the word, extension. It has to do with this country. I’m hearing, extension for accountability.” When the prophecy was given, many scoffed at the notion, stating that constitutionally it was not permissible. Joshua later commented on the issue, “When they see what is going to happen, they would know the constitution would permit.” In confirmation of the prophet’s words, the much anticipated 2011 Nigerian parliamentary elections were pushed forward not once but three times due to circumstances beyond their control.

IVORY COAST PRESIDENT GBAGBO 2010

Joshua is also said to have prophesied concerning the disgraced former Ivory Coast president Laurent Gbagbo, long before the violent election-related crises erupted in November 2010. Joshua declared that Gbagbo should cede power in the upcoming elections with his counterpart Allassane Outtara, saying it was his time to leave office. Gbagbo sent emissaries to The SCOAN to request for prayers upon which Joshua requested his presence to tell him the mind of God. Unwilling to respond to or accept the prophecy, Gbagbo took matters into his own hands and dissolved his cabinet. After a six month struggle for power which resulted in hundreds of lives lost, Gbagbo was eventually arrested and is now to be tried by the International Criminal Court.

NIGERIA VS GUINEA AFCON QUALIFIER 2011

Joshua’s revelations have not always been unchangeable as in the case of when he spoke of Nigeria’s qualifier for the African Cup of Nations against Guinea on 8th October 2011. The previous Sunday, 2nd October, he had said that: “God showed me the game between Nigeria and Guinea but what I saw was not favourable” and that “any team that scores first will take the day”. He said however that it was possible to change the outcome if the team played as if everything depended on them and prayed as if everything depended on God. The team however did not heed the advice. The match ended 2:2 – with Guinea scoring the first goal and then dramatically equalising in the dying seconds, sending Nigeria out of AFCON 2012 for the first time in 25 years.

ZAMBIA AFCON 2012

Zambia’s smooth journey through AFCON 2012 shocked many, as they had not reached the final stages of the tournament for over 20 years but what was most shocking was when they met Ivory Coast, the ‘big guns’, in the final and emerged victorious as underdogs. Less than one hour before the opening of the match, Prophet Joshua in his service had said: “Yes, this blessing is for a country you are not expecting; this victory is for a country you are not expecting…God wants to make them happy because of the victims of what happened to them in the past.” Zambia emerged victorious on the same soil where they had tragically lost their entire national team, 19 years earlier in a fatal plane crash.

Nehondo , l find it funny when ever a mighty prophet rises in this world and does Miracles or prophesies the truth, people always say he is a satanist , like wht you are saying about TB Joshua , surely Satan can never be as this powerful and in him there si no truth because he is the father of all lies .. Satan is a deceiver , .. So in this case Nehondo ,Satan is more powerful than God ? He is using TB Joshua to prophesy ?where are the prophets of God then? It seems with you , all the prophets are from Satan.. It is truly wisdom Nehondo to keep your mouth shut until you know wht you are talking about ,for every word you utter with your mouth , you shall be judged by it …

  10. Jimalo on Sun, 8th Apr 2012 12:46 pm

To some or most the Devil is more real than God. The devil and his followers are all they see. Hameno kuti vakaitwa sei. l do not know who they will say comes from God. Why one choses to quote a verse out of context and apply it to the men of God baffles me. But on second thoughts when one analyses such a phenomena one realises that it is the devil’s attempt to deny the existence of the Mighty God.They are trying to disuade the innocent from paying attention to the Servants of God by denigrating them without any shred of evidence for their claims that such men of God are servants of the Devil.l hope they do not deceive many. Ivo true Christians should not be lazy but learn to read the word for themselves and to seek to diligently apply the same.It sad that it is the supposedly bible believing Christians who are at the forefront to denigrate the True servants of God.

  16. Descendant of Changamire on Sun, 8th Apr 2012 7:14 pm

No Kachembere kegudo, get your biblical facts right. Satan is not strong, he is a deceiver, like a vrey beautiful woman who is infected with all sorts of diseses. Any man who cohabits with such a woman is actually signing his death warrant. Similary, those who exalt and glorify satan will never know true happiness. Nehondo, God is Supreme and cannot be compared with S atan in whatever respect. Follow and accept religiously rich presntations by the likes of Jimalo so that you will see the kingdom of God. Extricate yourself from the shortlived bondage of this world because it is not permanent, but the Almighty’s reign is permanent. Do not waste time standing for the devil and his various institutions because they are deceitful and temporary. Arguing against Jesus and GOD is wishing for a world without a sky. Its illusionary.

oh pity u Kachembere u are so deceived coz you choose to tell us what reason do you ve to accuse these of being something other than what they say they are. do you read the bible yourself why are you so fearful. fear is a spirit which you ve got. ignorance is another as well as a religiuos spirit which the pharisees of the old had hence they persecuted Christ. its the same spirit in you all from the same source, the pit of hell. What makes you so blind that u cant read the bible and apply the tests that are given in there so u can be liberated from fear. yes u need to be careful but God has provided a way to check these things and its contained in the bible. Just do not be lazy and for God’s sake use your brains many a Zim Christian have parked their brains and stopped using them the moment they become Xtians they think its being spiritual. This is not about instinct but about knowledge being prayerful reading the bible and about being led of the spirit. Many like you surely do not know that which you ve believed in and cannot even explain your beliefs or the one youve believed in. He did not give us a spirit of fear but of love of power and of a sound mind

Wekuspakwa, your argument is very interesting indeed.

That Bible verse you quoted if you read it in the original it says that the anti Christ will cause fire to come down “IN THE SIGHT OF MEN”, showing you that it will be AN ILLUSION that the anti Christ or false prophet will stage before the eyes of men.

    Any more verses?

The Seven Bible Tests of a True Prophet

Introduction: Num. 12:6 “And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, [I] the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, [and] will speak unto him in a dream.”

Often God uses dreams and visions to reveal His will to mankind.

Test # 1) Isa. 8:20. “To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, [it is] because [there is] no light in them.”

The “law” here is a reference to the “Law of Moses,” the first five books of the Old Testament, which also contain the Ten Commandments law, and “testimony” is a reference to the rest of the Old Testament, and by extension including the New Testament, which also contains the “testimony of Jesus Christ” (Rev. 12:17), that both together explain what the “Law of Moses” means in mankind’s practical experience.

True prophet’s sayings are totally consistent with all that the Holy Spirit has already revealed in Scripture.

Test #2) Jer. 23:14. “I have seen also in the prophets of Jerusalem an horrible thing: they commit adultery, and walk in lies: they strengthen also the hands of evildoers, that none doth return from his wickedness. v.16, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, [and] not out of the mouth of the LORD.”

True prophets will reprove other prophet’s sins, rather than conspire to support one-another’s claims.

Test #3) Jer. 28:9. “The prophet which prophesieth of peace, when the word of the prophet shall come to pass, [then] shall the prophet be known, that the LORD hath truly sent him.”

True prophet’s predictions must come to pass, ALL of them.

Test #4) Mt. 7:15. “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. … Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither [can] a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. …Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.”

True prophets lead people to repentance and humility before God, and to love their fellow humans. They never lead people to become competitive, prideful or self-exalting.

Test #5) 1 Jn. 4:2. “Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:” (See also Hebrews 4:15. Jesus “was in all points tempted like as [we are, yet] without sin.”)

True prophets confess that Jesus came in our “fallen” human flesh, yet He got the victory over every sin and all sin, just as we can, through connection with His Father and our Father.

Test #6) Dan. 10:17. “For how can the servant of this my lord talk with this my lord? for as for me, straightway there remained no strength in me, neither is there breath left in me.”

True prophets have no strength or breath of their own while in vision, but supernatural strength from God.

Test #7) Jn. 1:15. “John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.”

True prophets exalt Christ alone, but never their own abilities.

miracles are there.all gifts are there only if you believe.bible says everything is possible to those who believe, but to those who do not believe its only questions after questions.First get to believe the word and God he will open up your eyes.Spirit things are for those who are in spirit. The biggest obstacle is most people comment about spirit things whilst they are not spiritual,eg football is only understood by football fans not cricket fans who do not follow football. To me this man has a gift of prophecy but not a prophet.there is a great difference between a prophet and someone with a gift of prophecy. Most of them including Makandiwa,Angel and others are not prophets.A prophet is someone who put the correct word of God to the people, correcting people where they break scriptures also telling things which happens.bible forbids women to be pastors, preaching in the church, women wearing trousers, too much make up just like unbelievers and other things but these people allow women to do all these things in church whilst bible forbids and still call themselves prophets its a shame, they do not see wrong with all these things which are written in the bible,so a gift is dangerous because you can break scriptures but telling people things which come to pass, but high treson is breaking of scriptures read the bible carefully it is written that breaking of sciptures is destruction even though you do all these wonders. In matthew it is written that many shall come saying unto me we have done this in your name but l shall say l never know you.Why they are rejected because they disregarded scriptures.people are cheated with miracles, but it is written gifts and callings are without repentence ,so people follow people because of miracles not word taught .

There are more tests in the bible hat you ve left out Melusi. l however find your interpretation to the same to be very shallow. well tried though. but pa application apa you still fall short very very short. you have a pre disposition which affects your objectivity, try n rid yourself of that and the truth will reveale itself to you. well tried now go and watch and listen to the Ministries of these people and then objectively apply the scriptures. after that then come lets us discuss. we look forward to hearing from you after this excercise and we hope you are not too prejudiced to watch and listen to them. There are those that have never listened to or watched these pples ministries but just criticise out of their own prejudices. lm sure you are not one of them or you will not be after this. come on now

  33. sindy on Tue, 10th Apr 2012 8:55 am

its funny how people always want to attribute every miracle to the devil. Is it because you doubt God so much such that you believe He cannot raise mighty man and women to the glory of His name. Jesus said you can do greater things than these that He had done. Jesus raised the dead so there is nothing amazing when a man of God prays for dead person and they rise. There is nothing amazing about prophesying a death of a person because even in the bible such prophecies are there the fall of kingdoms. As a man thinketh so is he , the more you think a miracle is from the devil the more you are from the devil yourself give glory to were it should be given to God and not to the devil . If only people had taken time praying for the president in question maybe the outcome would have been something else but you spent your energy arguing about whether TB Joshua is real or not. The devil has made the church to loose focus on the real thing and people are spending time judging men and women of God instead of praying to God to reveal Himself even more through His servants. To help some of you may you ask yourselves if God called you into ministry would want to minister to people with a mindset like yours (food for thought)

It appears like Satan is the one they know they do not seem to even believe that there is a God in Heaven coz they attribute everything to the Devil. its strange coz even those that call themselves Christians are always quick to attribute to Satan every phenomenon.l would not worry if those that do so are unbelievers coz we know who their father is and that he tries not to acknowledge God. So we conclude by saying that no matter what you call yourself if you are quick to condemn the men of God without first doing a due diligence and honest search and research then some spirit other than the spirit of God is operating in you. even if you call yourself a believer we will judge you by your fruit such as your attitude towards those who are mightly used of God. Ignorance is not a defence coz the bible is there for you to read as well as to provide to test the spirits as well as the formula to determine what true prophesy is all about. I agree with you Sindy they need to repent these pple otherwise they are just bringing curses and condemnation upon themselves by uttering such against the annointed of God

What facts sis quoting verses is one thing but application is another can we have facts and then apply the verses. sis check Deuteronomy 18 for a start and then apply it. l like your preparedness to learn you watch Emmanuel TV just for a few days and then check whatever is preached there with the bible in the same way the Berans in Acts 23 did, there is nothing hidden Sis. Just avoid bringing curses and condemnation to yourself by making utterances that mock the men of God. l knew of some professor who used to mpock even God and he died a very slow and miserable death. just be careful sis

Jimalo u gt an emotional problem & people like u are liable t being tossed to n fro by every doctrine, thats y u c that these charismatic churches r filled mostly wt women ‘y’ bcz they r emotional beings n most of all they dnt read the bible n those who read can’t interpret, they wait 4 “the man of god”(a man in sheep’s clothing) 2 interpret 4 them but……Lord have mercy for your ignorant people, open their eyes,Amen

  46. Jimalo on Wed, 11th Apr 2012 10:50 pm

lm very stable just take time to read n understand what l write, far from what you suggest. you make the mistake of generalising without a sober and scientific analysis. whilst there may be some who it the description you gave its not everybody. you’d better read carefully the bible n listen to theses prophets before making uninformed judgements otherwise you are in danger of going to hell with all this l know all full of stuff n attitude

  47. Wekuspakwa on Thu, 12th Apr 2012 8:50 pm

Jimalo i hv listened 2 these so called prophets & 1 john4v1 tels me 2 test evry spirit,i hve tested n 2 their shame tb joshua, makandiwa & angels r working 4 their father the devil,NB:never think that i’m just spitting out words out of the jungle,i’m deeply convinced in my heart thru Jesus Christ that they r all false prophets, only if we cn meet if u lyk 2 hv a bible study bwt false prophets, yes their mouth speak Jesus bt e spirit behind z of lucifer yea i mean that serpent of old the devil…..

  48. Jimalo on Thu, 12th Apr 2012 9:40 pm

just tell us what the test says and how you have applied it. Ive heard many quote the verse but have ended on test the spirits without fully elaborating what the test says and how they ve applied it. its not enough to be convinced in your heart such issues do not need conviction of the heart for your heart is easily deceived. use your head on this issue use your ears listen to these men’s teachings read the bible and apply what you read to what they teach n you ll get to know the truth which l know you are avoiding. its not just about quoting verses in the bible but its about knowing the Word and applying same to what you read n see as well as observing. just try this with an open mind n not a biased prejudiced fearful predisposition such as l seem to detect in you. Zviri pachena izvi blaz, just open your eyes musaite semapharisees who had the scriptures but still denied Christ n called him a demoniac all out of jealousy fear n religious prejudice such as what u seem to suffer from. or are you a politician who like in the days of old also feared those who have influence and draw pple to them. then you politicians feel threatened and take these as political rivals. its not about politics but about things spiritual blaz. Tell me just 4 reasons why u say that these men work for the devil after what u say is applying the test. what does the test consist of please write it out and tell us which part of the test applies or does not apply to these men of God. l dare challenge you please speak

Many of you seem eager to test the spirit, here is a chapter that i think can be of much help. I urge you bretheren though not to be quick to judje and hail insults at people if you do not know the spirit behind anyone for you might be heaping curses on your head even upto the 3rd generation

    1 John 4:1-6

1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are of God; for many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit which confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, 3 and every spirit which does not confess Jesus is not of God. This is the spirit of antichrist, of which you heard that it was coming, and now it is in the world already. 4 Little children, you are of God, and have overcome them; for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. 5 They are of the world, therefore what they say is of the world, and the world listens to them. 6 We are of God. Whoever knows God listens to us, and he who is not of God does not listen to us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

Thanks Sindy l wanted this guy to read it for himself and then to listen to the man of God and then apply the test to the teachings of the man of God. This is one exercise that lve noted that even some pastors who are of the same disposition avoid doing coz the results go against their thinking and strange convictions which are borne out of ignorance, fear, jealousies or some such other unholy spirit against true and effective holy men and women of God. I agree with you they do not know what curses and condemnation they are bringing upon themselves out of this care less and base less labels they give upon the men n women of God. Repentance is what is required on their part
