A magistrate has blocked Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai’s planned wedding meant for Saturday ruling that he was already married to a former lover under customary law.
Ms Locardia Tembo’s lawyer, Everson Samkange who announced the Court’s latest ruling said, ‘the marriage licence that had been issued to the premier has been cancelled.’
Morgan Tsvangirai has had a string of women claiming various forms of union with him ranging from mere intimacy, to the traditional customary lobola procedures, and the recent marriage licence for Elizabeth Guma whose planned marriage ceremony has been cancelled. Three women were claiming him – Locardia Karimatsenga Tembo, Elizabeth Guma, and a South African woman, Nosipho Regina Shulubane.
Had it not been for the ruling Tsvangirai would have been tying the knot with Ms Macheka Saturday at Raintree Gardens in Umwinsidale, Harare.
Lawyers for Tsvangirai, whose political reputation has been marred by the love wrangles however said they would appeal the ruling. At the time of writing, it was not clear how that appeal would be processed.
