A family man died on Sunday afternoon in Pomona during the fire blaze which has engulfed Vainona.
The Pomona fire claimed the life of Mr Jairos Chadzimura (whose age was not known at the time of writing.) The man was killed while trying to recover his goods as his house went under the flames.
The Harare fire brigade struggled to put out the fire which needed several helicopters to handle. Eye witnesses say that the fire was started by people who were attempting to get rid of some rubbish at the site area which sits on a square kilometre designated for dumping by the city council.
The deceased comes from Mukombe village in Buhera and is survived by ten (10) children and several grandkids.
At the time of writing, another disturbing incident occurred after police attending the scene said that they would guard the deceased’s body over night and would collect it on Monday morning.
Exactly what caused the fire? Watch this space for an exclusive investigation on what sparked the fire. More to follow..
