A story published by a UK radio station stating that the MDC-T’s Manicaland province is going to be dissolved has been dismissed as false and misleading.
In an official statement, the Manicaland province spokesman Pishai Muchauraya described the article as ‘shocking.’ The statement read in part:
“We have learnt with shock and dismay an article generated by SWRadio Africa that the Mdc Manicaland Provincial Executive is going to be dissolved. The report is not only false but misleading and mischievous with the intention of causing confusion to our faithful supporters who have braved 14 years of state brutality.
“We are investigating the origin and motive of the gossip. While as a party we strongly believe in freedom of expression and opinion, we also loudly condemn the peddling of falsehoods of that nature. We wish to correctly state that our provincial executive led by Julius Magarangoma is intact and not under any investigation by any superior organ of the party.
“It is sad to note such blatant and shameless falsehoods are being conveyed when the provincial executive is hosting the Party President Dr Tsvangirai from tuesday to Thursday next week.
“Whilst we are not demanding a retraction from the authors of the gossip, we strongly urge them to examine issues of journalistic hygiene in their newsroom.”

  1. Painful isn’t it. Falsehoods are not only malicious but painful at most. That’s how it feels when you are falsely told that youd president is dead!!
