Bulawayo (ZimEye) – A looting scandal has been unearthed at the Zanu-PF controlled National Railways of Zimbabwe where bosses have acquired top-of-the-range vehicles valued at over US$1 million at a time when workers are going for months without salaries and the state of trains continue dilapidating.

Workers at the NRZ revealed that the parastatal’s management led by Retired Air Commodore Mike Karakadzai were looting the company resources so that when the new government appoints a new management team, they will walk away with properties.

Sources said Karakadzai who is a staunch Zanu-PF supporter acquired a latest model of the Toyota Landcruiser valued at US$250 000 and five Toyota Prados for US$100 000 each.

The vehicles are parked at the company headquarters in Bulawayo and are awaiting to be given to directors.

The acquisition of the vehicles has sparked protests at the NRZ where the workers committee chairman Albert Mahlangu launched a scathing attack on Karakadzai and his cronies.

Mahlangu bemoaned the dilapidated state of trains and the non-payment of workers since August last year.

He said Karakadzai was insensitive because he put luxury ahead of essentials.

Karakadzai has also acquired state-of-the art Samsung LCD television, sofas, a laptop among other expensive items for his office in the 12th Floor of the 22-storey NRZ building.

His looting also include the acquisition state-of-the-art furniture for his double storey house in Suburbs where he lives adjacent to his directors who have also bought new furniture for their houses.

Pressed to respond to the looting allegations, Karakadzai admitted that he bought the cars and furniture but was quick to defend: “The cars and the furniture were bought to replace the dilapidated fleet. There is nothing sinister about it.”

Meanwhile, over 1 000 workers on Thursday thronged Karakadzai’s office demanding payment or confiscate the new vehicles and furniture.

The workers have been promised to be paid Friday (ZimEye, Zimbabwe)

Hey I am impressed, I have never met such a small mind inside such a big head before, Prof.Bruce Derere. Do you see me as that type of a person who flees my beloved country Zimbabwe into voluntary slavery?

I will be here until God destroy it with fire, you idiot. I dont even know the direction of Australia and i have never been outside Zimbabwe and I dont foresee my self moving out of it.

Sweet mother land, Nyika yechizvara never ever.

Only foolish folk resort to abusive language. Do you see the subject matter above? You Jack and Serpent are abusing this forum. We all owe the Zimbabwean people our brains and resources. Why not we use them for the betternment of our country?

  8. Bruce Derere on Fri, 13th Mar 2009 11:48 am

I had to tell Serpent off because of my knowledge of the man and my precious intuition. Never in any place did I use abusive language like you Jack. People like yourself should be banned from using the internet!

I stumbled on this sight yesterday and managed to go through a couple of articles and virious comments, and i must say bruce thinks he is above everyone and feels his opinon is always right. bruce you claim to be educated, i guess you dont realise that whilst a degree is a standard measure for accademic achievement, it is not an accurate measure of capability. some aquire degrees though memorising data and some though understanding data. we need people like serpent who understand what they are talking about instead of idiots like you who talk though that ***hole on your face.

Mereki, I only tell Prof.Bruce Derere that Emmerson Munangagwa and his longtime pal Edison Shirihuru were behind the disappearance of Rashiwe Guzha.

Bruce might be a man on a mission to stop us telling Zimbabweans the truth.

I worked for Counter Subversive Unit at Red Bricks (Chaminuka) before I left to do farming.

Mereki, I can only tell Prof.Bruce Derere that Emmerson Munangagwa and his longtime pal CIO Deputy Director General Eddison Shirihuru, Collin Chingura Ndangariro and Cleopus Bundingo Gwinyai were behind the disappearance of Ms Rashiwe Guzha, in 1990.

Shirihuru and two of his CIO subordinates, , were charged in connection with the disappearance of Ms Guzha. Despite the fact that the police had 53 witnesses, the charges against the three CIO officers were withdrawn before plea for lack of evidence.

But what happened to the 53 State witnesses the police had lined up to testify against the 3 CIO officers? Obviously some have died and others have left the country for the diaspora.

Bruce might be a man on a mission to stop us telling Zimbabweans the truth.

My sixth sense tells me that this accident was well planned but the last man in action(the driver) had misgivings about the assignment and that is why the main target was missed.Consider these observations:
    1. A USAID vehicle was chosen so as not to think that it was ZANU PF. How would ZANU get hold of an American car? (But we know that driver is Zimbabwean and can be forced, threatened etc)
    2. Have you seen the CIO boss rushing to a ZANU PF accident victim before?
    3. What about the entire politburo making a bee line to Avenues clinic (they wanted to see the extent of damage in order to either celebrate or go back to the drawing board)
    4. When Mugabe gets what he wants he always preaches light when infact orders darkness. Go back to his inauguration speech in June last year against the horror movie he created in the run-off.
    5. Since when has ZANU PF started allowing its TV and radio stations air condolences to death of ‘zvimbwasungata’? Imagine someone being allowed to phone and wail about death of the PM’s wife. The PM happens to be enemy No.1 of the TV and Radio stations owner!!!

The above are just a few of the observations that point to the fact that this accident was man-made and allowed to proceed by the devil. Of course God will level the playing field kana nguva yakwana.

    Tichaona kwazvinosvika. Sungai dzisimbe.

POLITICS IS QUITE A BRUTAL GAME, THE MDC IS VERY NAIVE TO THINK THEY WILL SOMEHOW REBUILD ZIMBABWE IN PARTNERSHIP WITH ZANU. THESE SELFISH CLOWNS WILL CONTINUE POPING OUT FROM EVERYWHERE. THEY WILL CONTINUE TO ROB ORDINARY ZIMBOS. THERE IS A SAYING, IF YOU CAN`T WIN THEM, JOIN THEM AND TSVANGIRAYI HAS JUST DONE THAT. I DON`T KNOW WHY THERE IS STILL THIS NOTION THAT HE REPRESENTS THE PEOPLE.THE MAN IS NOT LEADERSHIP MATERIAL. BY THE WAY JACK AND SERPENT GOOD COMMENTS

  15. Bruce Derere on Fri, 13th Mar 2009 4:39 pm

Hey Steve. I dont see anythign wrong with Morgan. He is in control. Don’t think he is foolish. That guy is loaded with wisdom, whether you recognise or not. Just wait a few more years and see for yourself. You are really in the dark on this issue!

  16. steve dube on Fri, 13th Mar 2009 7:45 pm

well bruce, i can only hope you are right. don`t get me wrong i don`t think morgan is foolish, he has gained what he longed for thus being called prime minister. foolish are those who think he has the nation at heart cause from where i am standing bob is still runing the show and still has no respect for morgan.

  17. Bruce Derere on Fri, 13th Mar 2009 7:48 pm

Yes I agree with you there. ALSO when Grace Mufgabe dies, she will be buried at the National Heroes Acre. BUT they buried Morgan’s wife at Buhera…

  18. Bruce Derere on Fri, 13th Mar 2009 8:37 pm
