Zimbabwe:Outrage as ZEC Refuses To Release List of Polling Stations
There was outrage on Thursday afternoon after the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission refused to release the list of polling stations across the country.
According to the ZEC the list should be released on the very day of voting. A statement released on Wednesday stated that the polling stations would be made public next week Wednesday.
But the Zimbabwe Election Support Network, ZESN, the various polling stations must be known to the public and to political parties in good time to enable smooth monitoring.
The ZEC has however released the full count of polling stations as 9670 which will be set up on the 31st July.
In a statement, the ZESN said it “appeals to ZEC to release the list of polling stations in advance as part of international good practice and, in order to enhance transparency and accountability of the whole electoral process. ZESN feels that the last minute publishing of polling stations would make it problematic for stakeholders to engage with ZEC to address any problems related to the distribution of the final list of polling stations
“ZESN also encourages ZEC to ensure that polling stations are adequate to avoid long queues that may discourage potential voters from voting.
“ZEC should distribute the polling stations based on demand and the potential number of voters in each ward in order to avoid the concerns raised after the March 16 Referendum on the inadequacy of polling stations in highly populated areas,” the statement read.
Meanwhile Mavambo Kusile Dawn leader in the UK, Lloyd Nembaware commented saying the ZEC has tarnished its reputation. He told ZimEye on Thursday,
“Unfortunately for ZEC, it has had its reputation tarnished because of a number of irregularities. We saw the fiasco that occurred during the special vote and also questions are abound about the voters roll.
“I understand the opposition parties still haven’t inspected the final roll less than a week before the elections. It is in ZEC’s interest to make sure the result is not disputed. To not publish the list of polling locations a few days before the elections is atrocious. There clearly will be prejudice about this as it is likely to create chaos come polling day. Zanu PF need not worry too much as the dysfunctional opposition has cleared the way for it by squabbling about posts. We need serious leaders in Africa not those driven by greed, materialism and petty positions.”

Whatever rigging efforts they put in, they are going to be trounced. In Previous elections, the electorate would know which polling station they are going to vote at. Why is Z.E.C and Makarau hell bent on creating another controversial election. The A.U. is a sellout organisation, it’s a waste of an organisation. all controversies should have been eliminated, but ZEC is deliberately creating a tense atmosphere. We the people demand that you immediately publish the polling stations, not the incompetent, corrupt judiciary, WE THE PEOPLE demand that. No to EVIL practices, mabasa erima, Stupid
ZEC appears out of tune with the expectations of Zimbabweans who have for a long time yearned for efficient institutions which can run elections. The current ZEC is just like a Zanu Pf women’s league department.
Gaygodzva, this is not the first election to ever happen in Zimbabwe. In contrast, it is the first time to hear a name called Bhambi Junky. ZEC is a very, very professional bndy and the AU and SADC is very happy with everything.
So it took 5 years to prepare for “credible elections in Zimbabwe”? And just five days before the plebiscite we don’t even have a “credible voters’ roll”? Are we a cursed people?

Is this not man-made impending electoral disaster that we are hurtling towards? So in other words, on the very day of voting, people will be running around trying to find out where the polling stations are, and the voters roll, previously uninspected, will be used to tally votes.
It seems ZEC wants to deliberately create chaos on voting day. And where there is chaos, it is very easy to rig and manipulate the system.
An orderly election, where the voters roll has been inspected and analysed, voters have prior knowledge their polling stations, wait in an orderly manner to cast their vote, polling stations operate efficiently and allow one vote per person using an up-to-date voters roll – such an election is not acceptable to those who want to rig.
Baba Jukwa’s words will not be lost, during the chaos, army trucks will clandestinely bring in stuffed ballot boxes and simply remove actual ballot boxes from polling stations, whilst everyone will be busy trying to make head or tail out of the whole chaos and disarray to even notice the subtle moves. Zanu PF knows very well that it will lose the election, but to let ZEC get away with aiding and abetting electoral theft will be the biggest sin Zimbabweans ever commit!!!
Petty positions you say? If that is in reference to Welshman please be advised that our people have decided to wean themselves off from vice this and that syndrome. Now we are shaking off the brand of always taking a step or two and even three backwards in the name of unity to allow others to be at the forefront only to see them use those “petty positions” to harm us.
Tell me why Welsh had to be a second vice President in order to allow tribalistic dimwits and former gukuraundists and guraundists to take the high seat. You people what part of NO dont you understand?
