A yet to be named school girl was run over in Harare Drive on Thursday morning while heading to school.
Reports say the accident occurred along Harare Drive close to the traffic light which demarcates Ashdown Park and Cotswold Hills.
“It is with great shock and sadness that I have learnt of the tragic death of a school girl who was run over this morning along Harare Drive,” announced Harare West MP Jessie Majome.
“Barely a month after another fatal accident on Harare Drive which claimed the life of Dr. Chironga and earlier in the year we lost a Hallingbury Grade 7 pupil Delan Dzimunya, Majome said.
“One life lost, is one life to many and here before the year ends 3 lives taken. The issue of Traffic safety needs to be addressed along Harare Drive. The traffic light just before Ashdown Drive needs to be repaired and the 2 zebra crossings on Harare Drive repainted.
“My prayers are with her family at this sad and difficult time,” she added.

Sad ,RIP,just unfortunate our roads network are a total disaster .zpf has and is still contributing to loss of innocent lives.Its legacy is and will always be bad news.
Sad reading indeed. Was it Dr. Chironga who died in an accident that involved a Merc ML and a sand-carrying lorry? That was really fatal. I passed through the place soon after the accident and it was a real sad story.
Now Jessie, can you please take it up your otherwise sober head to do something about Harare Drive – from Byo Road to Lomagundi. It’s a dangerous stretch that’s serves as a highway right in a residentail neibhourhood. There are too many heavy trucks using that road between Zambia and South Africa. Harare City council should at least widen it to give drivers enough room for recovery in case of emergency. Please do.
