London(ZimEye)The Minister of Culture for Sweden, Lena Adelsohn Liljeroth, has denied claims that she is racist after she was caught on camera, on the 15th April, enacting female genital mutilation as she cut a cake made of a black woman’s body.
A public call for the minister to resign was launched by activists following the cutting of the cake which was done at the black woman image’s genitals. The tasty cake featured a black woman’s naked torso with the artist’s own head, painted black, at the top.
Liljeroth had been officiating a ceremony upon the invitation of Swedish artist, Makode Aj Linde, who built the black woman’s image which was made partly of cake but also contained a red substance believed to depict blood from the genitals.
Liljeroth was also photographed laughing and joking as she cut the macabre cake designed by artist who is of Afro-Swedish descent.
She defended herself and laid the blame on the artist:
“They wanted me to cut the cake.” Ultimately, the artist was to blame for any confusion, she said, arguing that the situation had been misinterpreted. “He claims that it challenges a romanticised and exoticised view from the west about something that is really about violence and racism,” she said. “Art needs to be provocative.”
The minister was blasted by Denmark based writer tendai Tagarira who in an opne letter told her:
” I call upon you to search your own heart and decide the appropriate course of action, to save the Swedish nation from your embarrassment. It is not my decision of course, but if I were in your shoes, I would apologize to all of humanity and then resign.”

  1. The Minister of Culture for Sweden, Lena Adelsohn Liljeroth, has no moral bearing or sensitivity to participate such a repulsive gathering and laugh and joke about and shamelessly claim it was the artist’s fault. She is a minister of sexual perversion and does not deserve to be a brothel gate keeper let alone a minister of the Swedish nation that is well respected all over the world. This Lena, if she has any common sense, must resign after an apology to mankind and retrain in what is expected of a person in her position of responsibility. She is absolutely offensive and childish intellectually!

  2. So what is the long term solution Nyoka? Where to from here? I have been fortunate enough in having traveled extensively around the World, at the same time I have covered virtually every inch of Africa. 2+2 is certainly not making 4 in Africa, yet when I travel through Europe, the USA and South America I see advancement, I see wealth with a sprinkling of poverty here and there. In the UK every square inch of farmland is cultivated, yet they have all the natural elements against them. Yet in Africa we have everything in our favour including fertile soils, ideal weather conditions, ample land etc. etc. Yet we can’t produce the goods. People in Zim talk about sanctions – what sanctions? I saw one of Majuru’s managers on a farm purchase trip last year. He had ample forex and bought everything he needed including seed, fertilizer, chemicals etc. etc. He had 6 x 30 ton lorries going back home. So why can’t the rest produce? I understand corruption etc. but to blame it on a drought when all the dams are full and all the previous farmers left their irrigation equipment behind – ??? I’ve visited ex white commercial Zimbabwean farmers in Zambia, Mozambique, Nigeria and the DRC – all have made a thorough go of it, having started from scratch, clearing huge tracts of land etc. etc. I take my hat off to them – no wonder the get the backing from the foreign owned banks. They have the willpower and determination to succeed regardless of their situation. I’m struggling to find the answers as to why our brothers can’t do the same. I’m tired of the colonialism excuse – we’ve been independent for 32 years. That excuse no longer fits! Why why why are we as Africans unable to turn our continent into a breadbasket???

  3. blamiki iam now agreeing with u on other issues, here in africa a lot of job needs to done, as far as democracy is concerned, the major problem is most of the gvmnts in africa are from revolutionary movements, who still derive their idoelogies from marxism and lenninism theories who believes the ruler is always right, these mass killings u re talking of,must not surprise u with this type of gvnmts, the purges, in russia when lennin rulling, and many more mostly in africa, they go in to power under guise of socialism , once in power they will be imperialists the reason why they kill pple is to intimidate and silence possible opposition, so that they can protect their empires at the expence of the poor,in africa there s too much corruption, greed , lack of accountability, lack transparency, etc..

  4. Nyoka, I’m only being realistic. I’m only asking a question as to why? Are we in Africa doing something wrong? We can’t go on blaming the white man or the West for all our problems – not 32 years after Independence anyway. I see democracy when I travel to Europe or the USA – I don’t see mass killings and continuous hatred? There is no denying that we do have a problem. Look at the malnutrition , poverty and corruption throughout Africa – why? We have ample land in Africa now that we have freed ourselves yet we are still reliant on food aid. Why? What happened to our look East policy? I see very little input from our Chinese brothers in the form of roads, clinics, schools etc. Instead I see mass plundering. Look at the Rwanda episode not so long ago where a million people were slaughtered in 100 days. Are we going to blame the West for those atrocities or are we going to blame them for not taking a firm stance. If they did become involved they would be blamed for interfering, hence the reason as to why they have left Zimbabweans to get on and sort it out themselves. Will we ever? I doubt it very much and that is being realistic and not pessimistic.

  5. now u re talking sense bla miki, they a play society , but dont degrade ur brothers who created room for u to be able to use that computer u re using ,if give whites too much pride u will see their true colors.

  6. The white folk have a place in our society. If you think they don’t then why are we all flocking to England and South Africa in our tens of thousands? Is it because we know they pay well and pay on time? I’m beginning to have my doubts about my own brothers. They are letting me down.

  7. never trust a white person. They will never change. At most times I support Mugabe when it comes to white people.

  13. Guys do you really think there is anything racist here especially if the artist him/herself is of African origin. I think it’s just humourous!

  14. So you son of beeeech Philip you have resorted to using my name in ushering your tribal garbage. Uri du-zvi rembwa white/colored dog. Editor please don’t allow this dog to keep on using my name, it destroys the spirit of fair debates.

  15. Bla Miki,
if their countries are not hunger stroke, why are they staying in Africa and not staying in their democratic country where there is no crime.
for your own information, the whites are the ones who actually came to Africa, started taking slaves and bringing them to their countries.
they migrated from their western democratic states and started living here in africa, so who is migrating here.

  16. Dear Minister Lena. I really don’t understand what you are apologizing about. Why are all these idiots absconding from Africa in the first place? Because of the human rights abuses and the atrocities being carried out in their own Countries. They certainly cannot rule Africa themselves and rely on the white folk for everything. You are doing a great job in Sweden by restricting these individuals from entering your Country although some do manage to get in illegally. Then again the word illegal does not feature in their vocabulary. And please Minister if Tsangarai comes begging again please tell him to pisssss off back to where he comes from. He should rather be begging from his own brothers like Strive Masiyiwa who have made Millions of Dollars via the backing of the zanu pf party in his own country. If you let them into your country you will see the crime rate increase and the property values decrease – please take note.

  17. So is it racist if I buy my black child a white barbie cake for her birthday and she cuts it? Just wondering?

  18. Zvakaoma. The Swedish wld say they wl nt remv sunctions until the GVT of Zim observe human rights. Are Africns human to them? Fud 4 thot

  20. People from Africa must be careful about these over human rights activists, their governments or ministers. They bring their own interests and un-African cultures pretending to be human rights activists.

  21. Tsvangirai has been to Sweden for more than 5 times in one year last year, no wonder why! This so called Culture Minister might actually be one of Chematama’s girlfriends. Now you see you Western Sellout these are the pople you support!
