MDC founding leader Morgan Tsvangirai has conceded defeat as boss, accepting that the opposition party should hold an extra-ordinary congress, a verified report states.
The report which circulated on networks Thursday, has since been verified as accurately reflecting what took place on Thursday. Senior party officials traveled to his house on Thursday and pressured Tsvangirai to step down. The leaders in the meeting had expressed through a detailed dossier how the party has suffered under the current leadership and the need for leadership renewal. They presented compelling arguments that an early congress to seek a fresh mandate should be held. The congress is now reportedly slated for March 2014.
When contacted party organising secretary and Tsvangirai’s own Medvedev-junior Nelson Chamisa told ZimEye that he will not comment on party issues before they have been made official.screamer_tsvangirai
“I am not going to be able to discuss party issues before they have gone through the relevant organs,” he said.  He added saying that a public report on what happened Thursday should be ready on Friday afternoon.

Tsvangirai refuses to hand over power to Khupe
Despite accepting an early congress, Tsvangirai reportedly refused at the meeting to hand over power to his deputy Khupe as required under the party’s constitution saying I would rather be defeated at congress than hand over, Mr Tsvangirai reportedly said.#
Meanwhile attempts to reach Tsvangirai’s spokesman Luke Tamborinyoka were frustrated as his phone kept being abruptly disconnected.

  1. Can”t see the reason to cry.In fact all democratic loving pple must applaud Morgan by doing the best move.MDC is a democratic party wich power lies in the pple not an individual like zanu pf. robert mugabe dzokera hako ku pf thjats were you belong.

  2. Murume Mkuru, your comment shows that you are an idiot because you can”t see reality the truth is vana Chamisa nana Teresa vako ndivo ma Cten vakauya kuzoita destroy the party ne kubvisa hardworking cadres like Mudzuri from the pples movement.

  3. This is ***** and gutter journalism..This story is baseless and unfounded Tsangison is there to stay and like Moses he is there to lead us from Zanumbabwe to A New Prosperous Zimbabwe….2014 is the year we have been waiting for since the MDC persued change for Zim…muchamama maChongwe

  4. no Good MDC without MT .they are messing up thoz money hungry .if britain @ america behind this move so btr keep ur money and will nvr vote in zim .we want M T

  5. Tsvangirai should have refused taking post after elections otherwise would have joined gvt if its true that they wanted him

  6. The Standing Committee bears collective responsibility for the disaster that befell the party in the July 31 election! If an Extraordinary Congress is, indeed, going to be held every post in the party starting from the branches right up to Presidency must be open to contestation and I see no one beating Morgan for the top post.

  7. saka kana tsvangirai akafa iwe woda kufa here pfungwa dzako ndidzo dzinokupa chikafu kwete party

  8. These people are up fo a joke .No Tsvangirai no MDC.There is no one who can stand a fight against ZANU PF.We saw Joshua Nkomo and ZAPU,Ndabaningi Sithole,Edgar Tekere etc .
If these guys wants to give it away to ZANU PF , they must pack their bags and go like Welshman and Job.
This is politics not a game of soccer where you loose and still hail the winner
    Tsvangirai is a man.

  9. MDC members have finally accepted to be destroyed by ZANU PF from within. This is the ploy of ZANU PF to further divide MDC-T to MDC-B and MDC-C and MDC-2013 who knows to where. This is a clear indication that within the MDC party are still state agents who will activate this division. The problems in MDC-T has nothing to do with leadership. If anyone has innovative ideas to excel the party into victory against the ZANU PF govt, which is the primary objective, let him come forward with those ideas. There is nothing new that the new leadership will bring on the table, unless that new leadership will come from outside the party or from Jamaica,China,India or Sudan. No one within the has been turned away with his/her ideas. These disputes will destroy MDC as a party. The question remains : Does the MDC has quality leaders who will lead the future of our children?? They should lead by example and desist from Power-hungry deeds and greed. MDC should build structures, going door to door campaign, gathering support and stop being childish.
@Tichatonga Mambo; We will pray for Mugabe’s long live to shun the devil who wants to take him away. We need the old man’s ideas. Mugabe is our icon even though I am not a ZANU PF supporter.I know few people will disagree but we need the old chap to see that there is also talent of other leaders within Zimbabwe other than him. Long live His Excellency R.G. Mugabe.

  10. It’s people like that create people like Mugabe? Is Morgan Tswangirai supposed to be the supreme leader of the party till madhongi amera nyanga? You are the same people talking about Mugabe’s overstaying and his recycled cabinet most of which is from 1980 but it’s not ok for leadership renewal somewhere else. There is absolutely nothing wrong with change. If he should step down, he should do so and remain involved in the affairs of the party to keep the party stablished but if he goes and forms another party, then we know what kinda person he is.

  11. Well, God is the one that appoints leaders and gives direction…i hope this is a God inspired move and MDC including Tsvangirai wacho vane plan for a brave leader that will lead the Party and ultimately become the President of the country..I pray for the will of God over and above all….

  12. As much as I dislike Tswangirayi’s leadership I have to admit, if he really steps then this will be the end of the movement of democratic change, very sad.

  13. Iwe Tichatonga penga zvakanaka uri mhiri ikoko why uchida kutedzera zvihope nezviporofita zvenyu zvenhema. Ndimi masatanist imi manje achatanga kufa ndiwe. Isu vamwe tinoti pasi neMDC saka chero zvazvaita.

  14. Zviroto zviroto President Tsvangirai havaende.Chinoenda imvura nemagetsi. You people saying Tsvangirai must go are Zanu pf people who want to cause confusion in our party.Let the OLD man go first before Tsvangirai nekuti ndiye akatanga kuuyawo.

  15. mdc went to the political dustbins long time back so to change its leadership will never help to resurrect it. even if they take Obama to represent them all will never work as long you are competing with ZANU PF.

  16. Ndokupenga manje pasina Save zanu yoita madiro.Povho haimboterera zvekubvisa Save.ndiyanib mumwe angamira saSave.Morgan is more

  17. Tsvangirai has been offered and accepted the position of Vice President of Zimbabwe that is why he is stepping down from MDC

  18. Tsvangirai didn’t fail. I hate to hear people saying Tsvangirai failed to take down the dictator. The people failed him, we failed him. Were you expecting him to do it all on his own while you are all scattered all over the world running away from the heat in Zim. You left him alone and by so doing you have made Zanu pf even stronger.

  19. They come, fill their pockets, buy houses and other properties that we will for ever dream of and just like that they go. Then we are left behind grumbling like this as we wait for yet another hungry deceiver….
They come and they go, let’s wait for another one.

  20. He should go before he is not a strategic leader. Why did he marry two women with strong zanu pf links? Why was he defending ZEC secretariat before the elections? Why did he go for elections before the fulfilment of the GPA? why was he abusing women when he knew that women constitute a largest percentage of votes?

  21. Save akabva, zvirinane kuti ndidzokere kuzpf.kungokavira bhora musango.ndiyo option yasara.None of these so called leaders will match Morgan’s charisma.

  22. it is amazing how unsubstantiated reports become facts in the views of people commenting…at the moment it would seem Robert Mugabe and Morgan Tsvangirai are both still in post and likely to remain so at least in the immediate future.

  23. Zviri bho but zvitototo zviri ku sponswa ne Cten , zvatengesa povo which has been long suffering. Isusu vanhu toti where Morgan goes toendawo ikoko. Whether its a new party we shall follow Morgan. Not the money mongers and corrupt monkeys like Mudzuri. In fact there is a dossier of corrupt activity by Mudzuri from the 90s. Manje vanofanira kuitoiputitsa.

  24. mauraya party.mhata dzenyu takutidzokera kuzanu tongonopondwa tiriko.tingataurei namudzuri nxaaa.hehehe nxaaa.murimbwa mafounders acho imimi makadhakwa.munosvota.dai takaziva zanu isina kurigga.hakuna anesimba satsvangirai muzimbabwe muno.murikubhaizwa nevanhu vezanu vanotya tsvangirai.mauraya party murimatuzvi.maelections akarigwa makatarisa makuti pwetere pwetere mukuda kuisa ani angamira nezanu ipapa.murimbwa nxaaaa.tsvangirai ndowatinoda kwete dzimwe mhata idzo nxaa aaaa zvandibata.nxaaaaanxaaaanxaaa

  25. People must stop behaving like barbarians. You cannot go to office or house of the president of the party and say to him we are here to request your resignation. It unheard of. Members must push for an early party congress to select new office bearer. The incumbent will be given the chance to contest or not. This clears that Zimbabweans are still too far to understand constitutional procedures.

  26. Ngaende! We can’t allow another dictator to entrench himself like Robert. We do appreciate his contribution this far, but capacity to take us forward hapachisina. Saka ngaende!

  27. Maybe for the best bt l thnk for the worst,Chamisa must as well leave us alone. He failed as the organising secretary and costed Tsvangirai his position.
