Zimbabwe:MDC-T Gurus Wrestle Each Other For Makoni Central Seat
Simba Makoni has no more than 20 supporters
Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai was fooled by Mavambo Kusile Dawn leader Simba Makoni and has since caused more chaos in the bitter Makoni Central fracas by imposing Makoni to take over that constituency, MKD insiders have revealed.
More consternation is expected in the MDC-T party this week after Tsvangirai went into a secret pact with Makoni and will be addressing a joint rally in Rusape tomorrow. This is so despite the fact that the constituency was duly won by Patrick Sagandira through a normal voting process which was approved and endorsed by the party last month. Disturbances had already taken place at the time amid allegations that party echelons had rigged the election against the Europe based Grace Kwinjeh in favour of Sagandira who was then imprisoned on spurious charges of committing violence.
Tsvangirai was however fooled by Simba Makoni when the latter spirited an abrupt coalition with Tsvangirai’s party. MKD insiders have recently revealed that when Tsvangirai rushed to the camera to announce a coalition with Makoni, the latter had become unpopular and did not even have 20 supporters. “MKD does not even have a supporter base of 20 people,” a top cadre who requested anonymity told ZimEye last week.
But when contacted yesterday, Simba Makoni told reporters, “Tomorrow (today) Tsvangirai and myself will be addressing a joint rally at Vhengere Stadium in Rusape and if there was no support for my candidature, we would not be addressing the rally together.”tsvangirai-bored--giving-up-gives-up412x232
Sagandira however said, “I was in prison when the three parties formed the coalition for change. When I came out of prison, the MDC-T never communicated to me that I was supposed to withdraw for the MKD candidate Makoni. Therefore, as far as I am concerned I am still the MDC-T candidate and I am campaigning. I also met Tsvangirai at a rally in Mutare and he asked me how my campaign was going, which means I am still the candidate.”
When Sagandira finally came out of prison two weeks ago, he told ZimEye,
“Yes I can confirm that I was in prison for trumped up charges and managed to obtain bail and the people of Makoni Central should not worry themselves since their desired candidate is now free and should go and go and register to vote. Thank you so much for registering your displeasure on the imposition of candidates as has been the game in the last 2 terms.this time around you will not be disappointed since I’m a resident MP. All the best in completing the real change.”
With barely 9 days before elections, more confusion is expected in Manicaland after party spokesman Douglas Mwonzora contrary to the party’s own earlier position, claimed the Dangamvura-Chikanga seat is only reserved for Giles Mutsekwa when previous reports revealed the MDC-T had fielded two candidates, Arnold Tsunga and Mutsekwa.
“There is only one party candidate (Mutsekwa) and this has been made known by party president Tsvangirai. These other candidates are being imposed by Muchauraya and I do not know what their agenda is, but I think they are trying to split the party,” Mwonzora said.

  1. Nxaa!! this is not a porn site, go and masturbate yourselves to death away from this site, bastards!!

  2. Simba is a true democrat. Joining hands with MDC-T is the most noble thing a man vying for change would do. He made the most sober decision as he is a modern political figure. Thats logical politics, not greedy, Simba u took a good move becoz u welthought of the facts on the ground and u took action, bearing in mind that all we want is to remove the current rulership. WELDONE MAKONI.

  3. Makoni is a thoughtless, desperate and useless gold digger who has failed in all fronts.I think people will opt for Patrick, who was democrativally elected, than this lazy Makoni who just expects to get appointed all the time. He is used to the treatment he used to get from his Godfather Mugabe, who used to appoint him to positions at the slightest opportunity. Now Makoni is causing confusion in MDC and Tsvangirayi should be carefull of this political turncoat and chameleon, Simba Makoni. I foresee, Sagandira beating Makoni by a wide margin.

  4. Sagandira will win Makoni Central. Watch this space Mr Editor. Your headline after elections will be “Makoni (datya) fooled by Tsvangirayi”.

  5. Tsvangirayi anongopromisa zvaasingagone kudhilivha. Mari yacho yecompensation inobvepi? Its almost 405 of the population who can make claims as victims of Kukura-hundi, Murambatsvina, Farm invasions, 2000, 2008 elections victims. Ari kuvhara vanhu, it will not happen in reality.

  6. @Greyhora – I think in MDC you boarded a moving bus and now you want to be the conductor. You clearly don’t understand how the MDC got to be. You are also not privy to the circumstances leading to the break-away of the MKD outfit. It’s not a crime – let’s just leave it at that.
Meanwhile, congratulations Zimbabwe! Cde Chombo has declared that all urban and rural councils that have been run down by inefficient MDC-T councillors should write off all debts emanating from rates, taxes, etc.
On the other hand, the ‘very popular’ presidential candidate, MRT, has announced that he will compensate all victims that suffered under Mugabe’s misrule worth 33 years. From Gukurahundi through land-reform to Murambatsvina – all of these MRT’s new gvt will right! Exciting times, isn’t it!

  7. @Mavambo, maybe you should cease using that borrowed name, since it is now in disrepute? The Mavambo that we know, led by Dr. Simba Makoni has listened to the call of the people, who want change for a prosperous Zimbabwe, not the status quo with erstwhile liberators turned oppressors. Instead of continually denigrating your coalition partner, you might want to form your own MKD-Zimeye faction. Please do not insult the intelligence of Zimbabweans – the MDC’s agenda is to protect white interests? Do you remember the food riots in 1998 that preceded the formation of the MDC? Who was in the streets? White people?
While I appreciate freedom of speech and all, but if you say you will “remain true to my convictions”, then remove the MKD mask, because those convictions clearly have got nothing to do with what the people of Zimbabwe want, as your leadership has clearly appreciated.
    Pamberi ne MDC-T/MKD/Ndonga!!!

  8. Am really ashamed of what Simba is now doing – putting his otherwise very good name into such disrepute. From Finance Minister to Presidential candidate to MP aspirant? Ah no. And this disgusting habit of opening your legs to any political man? When we formed MKD it was mainly on matters of principle, a disgruntlement from the excesses of our mother party ZANU PF. It was mainly because ZPF had betrayed the people we suffered to liberate by condoning corruption, abusing and personalizing national resources, worshipping personalities, butchering and murdering our people. Now Simba thinks it’s better to join a party that was formed before 1999 by a group of white farmers in a boat on lake Kariba, to protect white interests in Zimbabwe. Am baffled, to say the least. I will forever remain true to my convictions, or rejoin a completely reformed ZPF or a “national ZAPU”. Not MDC akomana!!

  9. Ha ha ha ha ha, it looks like JZ is the true Thoughtful than that pretender. JZ’s arguements are rich, full of facts ha unozodei?

  10. And Makoni has never been elected as an MP for 33 years. Once unelectable always unelectable. Ngaagare kupurazi kwake. Sagandira ndiye wedu. Sagandira dhonza, Sagandira kakata.

  11. Thoughtful you are not really thoughtful, you want electorate not to say out weaknesses of candidates isn’t this against democracy. Makoni is a businessman who is always busy in his Harare office, he has no time for povo period. Can you tell me why a man who has been minister of finance wants to be an MP. Don’t think one starts as an MP, becomes minister and then retires. Why is he going the other way from presidential candidate to MP?

  12. May I put it straight that MKD has for more than 200 supporters in Ward 10, Rusape urban alone. This would be the smallest ward in terms of population base. Makoni central has 16 wards. It then boggles the mind when a silly, uninformed news deficient fool writes a stories without getting the facts right. Shame that you are not even confident to reveal your name or your source but choose to hide under a staff reporter mask. For your own information, the provincial chairman for Manicaland in MKD, the secretary for mobilization, Makoni district chairperson, district secretary for resource mobilization and the district elections director for MKD are all resident in Makoni Central constituency. Did you have the courtesy of verifying with any of these before going on to write shameful lies? I suppose your “reliable insider” is one of those many who came to MKD hoping to make a living from party resources but found that impossible, now that he/she is out he/she prefers to lie. Or maybe you are that insider? MKD is a party of honesty, tolerance and servanthood leadership. We are not short of supporters at all. Check this; our candidate in March 2008 scored 12% of the votes, is the equal to 20 supporters? And JZ you must be well aware of MDA. Simba built Rugoyi Hospital, electrified it and did many other good acts. Don’t comment for the sake of commenting, put substance into your arguments. And today manya!

  13. It could look like a small crack from a distance but the truth is that this gulf now seperating MDC T supporters is wider than what meets the naked eye. Tichaonerera isu zvedu

  14. What has Makoni done for Makoni Central for all years he has been in politics? nothing except putting a groundnuts cracking machine at his farm.
Makoni was a strong base for the liberation struggle, i wish the two luck with their rally there.

  15. The nominations court has set how can anyone including Simba Makoni aspire to be MP for Makoni?

  16. Floor crossing is a bitter pill to swallow but it has to happen for President Mugabe to loose power. Its a difficult political gamble.

  17. Who does Simba represent? Chematama akongo kabira zvese zvese.Next in line for coalition is Dzinemunenzva, kikikikikikiki, bhora mughedi gore rino. Icho.

  18. There is really nothing to worry about here. Either candidate will win. It was strategic to have Makoni as every vote counts. The two will campaign for MT as President. Look at the coalition between Dabengwa and Ncube – aint theye fielding two Presidential candidates?

  19. Simba Makoni represents a dimension of Zanu PF that many fail to appreciate. He represents disgruntlement in Zanu PF, but was one of the few to take the brave step and express his view openly. lately Baba Jukwa has been showing us another dimension, of vapanduki, who are fed-up with Zanu PF. They said to Simba, “lead and we will follow”, which they never did but deep down they realise the game is UP!!

  20. Morgan ave kuda vana mafikizolo .takaenda kuna welsh takazviona .look at it tracy mutinhiri, simba makoni, makones.a revolution devouring its children.the change with morgan is not real

  21. Kikikiki MKD has less than twenty supporters!thats why Tsvangizibunu is worried with our coalition with ZAPU,he knows that we are definitely going to win the elections because both of our parties have many loyal supportes.

  22. If 20people can make a difference in beating Mugabe so be it. The 20people plus 4.6 million are yearning for change.
