Zimbabwe: Tsvangirai Makes Sudden U-Turn on Quitting, Cancels March Congress

MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai today  performed a sudden U-turn against his earlier promise to abdicate and conduct an early elective congress in March.
A report by the UK based SW Radio Africa that claims the MDC party is to hold an elective congress in March following developments on Friday (yesterday)which congress it is claimed has no one else apart from Tsvangirai who is the only candidate, was dismissed by Organising Secretary Nelson Chamisa who said it was not true.

“There is nothing like that. I don’t know where they got that report,” said Chamisa hinting that there will not be any early elective congress whatsoever.
On Thursday Tsvangirai after being confronted by leaders over the party’s diminishing political-strength, had conceded and accepted quitting as President through a March elective congress. The leaders had managed to convince him through a detailed far reaching report argument that his conduct as party president had destroyed the party and would further diminish even his own credibility.
But there was U-turn on Friday when three other senior members who include Morgan Komichi, Lovemore Moyo, and Nelson Chamisa who forwarded their opposition to the motion saying that Tsvangirai should stay on as party head.
 
Asked to comment on the development, Mr Chamisa, however, refused referring our reporter to party spokesman Douglas Mwonzora whose phone appeared switched off.

  9. Tsvangirayi is the only person Zanu pf fears. So his refusal to hand over power to others in MDC will present sleepless nights for us who rely on government cheap resources. Imagine I got a tractor and annual allocation of inputs which I would convert into cash at anytime would Tsangirayi allow this. Viva Mugabe ICHO!

    It is not a clime to foretell something which is likely to happen. There is nothing wrong about prophecies, a prophet always say out what he got. No one is planning to execute someone, no one is wishing death for Mugabe or somebody. I’m just saying out what will happen.

  29. Interesting prophecy. The date is not far, I guess, let’s wait for the date.
    However, you should be the only person born in Zimbabwe who doesn’t have any relatives working for government. Remember: most teachers and most nurses are in government employment.
