Vigil adamant that Tsvangirai should step down

London(ZimEye)Despite recent criticism for its position, the London based democracy advocacy group, Zim Vigil has remained resolute that Zimbabwe’s Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai should consider stepping down and handing over power to others in order to save the MDC party from failing in the upcoming elections to be held possibly in 2012.
The Vigil on Wednesday clarified that they are not forcing Tsvangirai(pictured) to step down in any way, but are merely suggesting that he and his party should diligently consider their position and assess if they still have ability to win the upcoming elections in light of the current public shame the Prime Minister brought to the party following a string of sex scandals with persons known countrywide as sworn-enemies of the MDC party.
The Vigil had at the weekend released a press statement in which they called on Tsvangirai to consider the public damage that his recent sex scandals have caused both to him and the entire world of democratic groups in Zimbabwe.
‘Angagotonga seyi nyika ari mumagumbeze?’ (How can he rule the country when he’s always in bed?’, were some of the sentiments aired at the Vigil last Friday.
“We couldn’t help but think of Tsvangirai’s on-off wedding,” the Vigil said in a statement. “People were alarmed that Tsvangirai appears to have walked blindly into a Zanu PF trap and has become a laughing stock. There were nods of agreement when someone said, ‘How can he rule the country when he’s always in bed? . . . But somehow we doubt Tsvangirai will make way.
“Zanu PF has been paralysed by its inability to renew its leadership. The MDC-T should not make the same mistake. We believe there is no shortage of talent in the MDC-T and, with elections unlikely in the foreseeable future, there would be time for a new leader to make his mark,” read the statement.
Tsvangirai’s spokesperson has however scoffed at the suggestion and was quoted by Newsday:
“The Prime Minister was given a five-year mandate at congress on April 28 and it is only the congress that will decide whether or not he should step down. No one else can decide.”
But  the Vigil’s Dennis Benton told ZimEye Wednesday morning that Tsvangirai’s mandate is not a licence to practice immorality:
“[But] he wasn’t given a five year mandate to behave like a libertine,” he said of the PM who publicly claimed that he is a “bachelor” who is allowed to have as many affairs as he wants.
Benton elaborated on the Vigil’s earlier statement stating that their view was a mere collection of views from Vigil members who expressed concerns in which they stated that Tsvangirai had brought  the party into disrepute.

Party Leader with Serial Relationships
” If the people are happy with his behaviour, fine he can stay in office. I am just reflecting what a lot of people in the the United Kingdom who come to the Vigil are saying. They are unhappy at his serial relationships with women… having children out of wedlock. And they think this is unbefitting, (of) the leader of the democratic party they have fought for the past ten years. It’s not for me or the Vigil to determine who leads the MDC. We are reflecting the opinion among exiled Zimbabweans. We have always looked to president Tsvangirai to be our next leader, to set an example, and to be different from the behaviour of ZANU PF. We are happy if he takes this criticism on board and if he focuses on his job and leads the people to election, we will be fully behind him,” said Benton.
Another scandal in which the Prime Minister was found in recently was when he was seen to be deceiving a BBC journalist in October as he claimed that Zimbabwe’s draft constitution would respect Gay Rights, a complete contradiction to events in Zimbabwe, and it was widely speculated that he had done  so, to scout British donor funds. Shortly following this incident, it was announced that Tsvangirai had married a ZANU PF businesswoman who is close to his arch rival Robert Mugabe, and a few days later another woman’s name was announced as his second alleged ‘lover’, who is however the wife of a Mugabe ally and a feared late military commander.  (ZimEye, Zimbabwe)

  1. Somhlaba the Western countires ambassadors graced the Zanupf Conference in Bulawayo. The very countries who claim to have imposed sanctions on the Zanupf leadership. They were wining, dining and having all the fun with the same leadership. One cannot even rule out some more exchanges not only of information about money making etc but some bodily ones as well such as kisses or just straight sex. This Vigil is a bunch of money making individuals begging for donations for the Rhodesians who lost their small heavens on Zimbabwean soil.
Good news from Mantashe for you Bla Miki. He just vowed at the conference that the ANC of South Africa will help Zanupf to gain its lost territory so do not waste your tears on Malema and his group. The entire ANC is wholly, firmly and strongly behind Zanupf. They said this very clearly at the conference.

  2. Blah Miki whatas respectable with your leader Mugabe known for murder and theft AND even wife snatching. Its the same like TSVANGIRAI MUTENGESI,lONG BEFORE HE WAS FORCED BY THE CDES he didnt want to give blacks the land.He was knighted by Britain when he was killing thusnamds, they only broke their relationship when ther CDES demanded what they went to war for.So both Mugabe and Tsvangirai are sell outs.About the vigil, Tsvangirai spolit them by telling them they matter in Zim politics when he used them to undermine his former SG …Ncube. Nhasi mavara azare vhu nhai? VIVA DEVOLUTION OF POWER.

  3. Pathetic attempt and shallow analysis Bla Siki. Truth is, you don’t have a problem with Tsvangirai, you have a problem with what he stands for… You (Zanu PFutseki) are the traitors, puppets, wicked and murderers. One finger pointing at someone 3 pointing back at YOU!!!!

  4. Zim Vigil is a pressure group which was used by the MDC to peddle lies to the western world about human rights abuses, torture, maimings, kidnappings, abductions, murders, rapes and all forms of brutalities purportedly perpetrated by Zanu PF, President Mugabe and the people of Zimbabwe. The aim of this organisation was to raise the much needed funds for the benefit of MDC and to gain sympathy from the outside world through misleading the world about the reality on the ground. The Vigil therefore acted as a medium of communication between the western world and MDC in their endevour for a regime change agenda. It is sad to note that the once MDC financial backbone (Vigil) is now being castigated for demanding leadership renewal within the MDC after realising how foolish and irrelevant their chosen one is. Zimbabwe needs better leadership. We do not need a leader similar to Zuma of South Africa who only listens to the white man’s story. A leader who punishes his youth league for democratically denouncing the governance and leadership of a neighbouring country and yet when a chicken outlet demeans a well respected elderly statesman of a sovereign neighbouring country through a racist advert, nothing is done because it is a Rhodesian owned company and that all the white p-i-g-s are very happy with this advert. We do not need a leader who go on a fathering spree and does not care to marry those women he unfortunately impregnates because he is a self confessed gay and that he is afraid of loosing donor funds from David Cameron. A leader who is not principled, indicates left when turning right and does not remember the last word he said yesterday. We do not need a leader who is a traitor, puppet, wicked and murderer in the name of democracy and we do not need a leader who is as dull as Tsvangirai. Yes, for the first time l agree with you Zim Vigil. whatever you stand for, the beginning is now, remove this monster from our political landscape please. Viva Zimbabwe

  5. Who are you Zim Vigil people to say that Tsvangirai should step down? Tibvirei apo , endai kudzimba dzenyu munodziya moto wenyu chinyararire this cold winter here in UK. Leave Tsvangirai alone. I bet you that half of you in Zim Vigil are having sexual affairs with vakadzi vechirungu vakawanda , imi ma zimbo you are well known for having affairs nevarungu and some of you have illegitimate vana vemusango vechikaradi vamakaita nevakadzi vechirungu kunze kwe muchato. So imi ma Zim Vigil shut up!!! This “holier than thou,” attitude yenyu ma Zim Vigil is laughable. You can shout as much as you like there in London but no one will listen to your stupid utterances about Tsvangirai. He will not step down, but you Zim Vigil can step down!!!!!

  6. Life in Europe is Not a Bed of Roses
    By: The Serpent
Some Zimbabweans simply wanted to come to Europe for a better life, That was a very common line many people used back in Zimbabwe to force their parents to send them to Europe. Now they …are here, so how is life?
Many people in Zimbabwe consider Zimbabwe a cursed, poor and hopeless country, believing that greener pastures are abroad, United Kingdom in particualr. Before travelling to the UK, many do not even know the economic Situation here, and most do not care to know. Once at the airport, they start seeing life in another light; first the friend who promised picking them up is not answering the phone, then they do not have an address to go to. The next thing that happens is that they get stranded at the airport and start stopping any black person they see passing. If they are fortunate, a black ‘’brother’’ or ‘’sister’’ takes them home, making them to promise that they have to find their own place as soon as possible.
After one week, they are stranded, the person who took them home starts complaining that they have to pay for the air they breathe, the food they eat and shelter, but how do they pay when they came to Britain with nothing but 50p, believing money is on the streets of UK?
    May end up selling drugs
There is no way! they can return home, they strive to make it. The last option is usually to seek asylum because they might be deported. Most Zimbabweans who came legally travelled on students Visas, others came to meet their partners or some just travel for short visits then decide to stay.
Staying in the UK is a choice that comes with many sacrifices; graduates have to give up their education to work in care homes, some work in factories and others work as cleaners in hotels that are if they have the right documents to work in the country. What is the point of going to school for more than twenty years if one ends up doing jobs meant for illiterates? Those who could never do house cleaning in Zimbabwe; have to write very good motivation letters claiming they have five years of work experience before they can get a cleaning job.
The most frustrating part is the fear of going back to Zimbabwe, how do you start all over, how can you face your friends and tell them ‘’Life abroad is not a bed of roses’’?. Remember you told your dad that once you get to Europe you will buy them a new home, because they sold the one they had, to sponsor your trip to Europe? How do you face your siblings whose future has been marred because you wanted to travel abroad?
When your mom died, you could not go to pay her last respect because you were illegal or did not have money to buy a ticket, but now your dad too is gone, you can’t go because of the same problem, what next?
On claiming asylum, every Zimbabwean claimed to be a member of the MDC, therefore a victim of the rogue Robert Mugabe Regime. If Home Office deny the individual`s claim, and face deportation, the person end up joining organisations such as the Virgil to get support. Virgil a brain child of Mugabe`s victims of torture, who fled to the UK, which was a good idea. Once the Home Office grant that person protection, leave to remain in the UK, the same person begins to show his or her true colours by attacking the MDC leadership to show that they were never MDC . Virgil should go back to the drawing table and reconsider their formative objectives

  7. a man who continues to have sex with many women is a sexaholic and needs treatment. this mental illness is only being recognized of late in particular with high profile individuals such as tiger woods and mr berlusconi. woods recently attended a clinic in south africa not too long ago to deal with his problem. this is a serious matter and unless addressed it will lead to big problems as people will at the least lose respect for him.

  8. imi siyayi Tsvangirai akadaro. just because he made one wrong move makutoda kumuipisa. ah who was it that reminded us of our rights, made us conscious of the wrongs of the gvt then. who was it that made Zim’s economy stabilise after years of shame, vamwe maitoramba kuti murimazimba during tht time. who is promising a better zimbabwe now. Thing is we tend to FORGET the suffering and we still think we dont deserve better. he had the balls to stand up against tyranny SO???? You cant judge him by the fact yemu bedroom make chete.Mukada kuteedzera USA muchapenga. they went on about Clinton and his scandal, yet that nation itself is SODOM AND GOMORRAH. manje??? let him learn from his mistake and that will make him a better man. has he killed anyone, has he ever robbed the resources of the country, has he EVER made a foolish move that costed the whole nation?????? lets not get carried away, some of us commenting here have the same scandals or worse, dont lets point at the twig in someones eye, lest we cant see the log in our own….

  9. What do they know about the struggles that we went through. Imbwa dzevanhu. Mbwende dzakatiza nyika dzichinepa futi.

  10. Who would you expect to be leader of Zimbabwe. Perhaps you do not know that the President Mugabe took someone’s wife.Grace was a married woman. Most of the ZANUPF ministers have more than one wife and numerous girlfriends One army commander now has more than 50 children from different women. Compared to what is happening in ZANU, stories about Tsvangirai(if true) are child games.

  11. he is not a leader.Thius Charles RAY WHO SAYS PEOPLE SHOPULD NOT CONCENTRATE ON HIS PRIVATE LIFE SHOULD STOP ABUSING zIMBABWEANS.aFRICA IS NO LONMGER THE SLAVE TRADE aFRICA WGICH HIS FOREFATHERS LEFT.Why was BILL Clinton haunded about Monica LEWINSKY?So he thinks its better for Zims to get a half baked leader like TSVANGIRAI AS LONG AS he works for them..i never understood it when ZANU said it will never be a colony again….Tsvangirai must go with his MDCT.

  12. if tsangirai stands on this hot pot.. definately zanu-pf is going to frame him to kill a person under the survillance of a cctv. THIS IS MY INTELIGENCIA as they did to leanmre Jongwe. a case which he will not deny but to commit suicide.
so this is how MDC is falling trap to ZANU-PF because they are feeding with snakes inthe same blanket.. remember zanu-pf has killed mdc members and this is serious.. vakafa wanorwa vega, ..tsvangirai we the ZIMBABWE INTELIGENCIA WE TELL YOU, FIGHT THE WAR WHICH YOU STARTED… ngozi inofuka kana kuna ne asina kuuraya munhu. nekuti unenge usingadi kutaura chokwadi… i know if you see a dead person hidden some where, and you keep your mouth shut, the dead person will fight you until you release the information.. Tsvangirai is betraying all the dead mdc supporters , icho

  13. i do not see anything wrong, with the vigil saying their feelings towards zimbabwe.. they are advocting for a free zim.. hence the truth is MDC MUST CONSIDER RESTRUCTURING if democracy exists… it does not mean a suggestion is you are a c10… so if something happens to tsvangirai then MDC-T WILL DIE BECAUSE THERE IS NO TSVANGISON

  14. Everything is full of CIO? Uri godzva rehachi iwe Makanganwa. Your Zim Vigil for years raised money for mdc through deception and now you accuse them of being CIO led, simply because they have seen the light and no longer want to be led by a blind man? You are very stupid

  15. Patinorasika maZimbo, ndipo pokuti the Leaders does not have to be questioned. Kwanzi kana paine asati atadza ngaakande dombo. Trying to quote from the foreign book that was brought by white missionaries who had a mandate of siphoning our natural resources. Its not about kuti ndiyani asingatadze. Its about a national Leader, can’t u get it. Even Clinton, vacho vamunoda kutevedza akaitwe impeach wani. A national Leader should be a role model, kwete rombe rinongonyika pose pose richizvrisa vana vevanhu rosiya.

  16. Comrade Naked, handsomeness and beauty does not necessarily make good leaders. You are sick and pathetic to think even along these lines

  17. Who doesn’t know that Vigil is full of CIO operatives? If you didn’t there is your answer.

  18. I’m beginning to respect this Vigil thing for its frankness on this Mdc saga. Indeed if Tsvangirai walks the talk, this is an opportunity for him to step down gracefully and concerntrate with his bed hopping. “What we want to tell him is that he must go in peace or we will remove him violently”, he once said.

  19. I am glad MT isn showing his true colours before he gets the opportunity to be president of our beloved country. People of Zim were about to make a big mistake.

  20. Can someone define for me the two words : 1. Opponent 2. Enemy. I thought ZANU PF & MDC are polical opponents and NOT political enemies. No wonder y the beatings, maiming and killings of one another.

  21. MT is digging himself into a worse pit. His pronouncements show lack of concern and lack of accountability on his part. He can screw (up) and walk away counting on denials and spokespeople. He has become a continual liability in the struggle against Mugabe.
Like Dubya, who came into power and was immediately gifted with 911, people thought here was a guy who was going to keep the country safe and restore Americanism. But he went on to misuse the war against terror (Mugabe and Zanu in this case) and enriched his friends with contracts and much corruption and tortured people in their thousands.
MT has behaved no better. He has misused, as Dubya called it, ‘the political capital’ that he gained from the people. The people’s support is a vehicle out of tyranny; not a ticket to mirth, pleasures of the flesh and arrogance.
We deserve better. If Morgan is more then Biti is better.
Bachelor vs widower; single after paying lobola; CIO is blamed for pregnancy; initially denied paying lobola; then embarrasses and divorces the woman in public after claiming it a private affair.
We deserve a modern educati here; we are tired of the same old ways of Zimbabwe. MT has shown he behaves no different to Zanu by overstaying in power as well.
