Den Moyo leading demonstators at the Zimbabwean embassy in Washington on Saturday

Below are photos from the 21st Movement demonstration in Washington DC coordinated by MDC-T leader Mr Den Moyo.

The 21st Movement is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, nongovernmental, organization working to support and strengthen democratic institutions in Zimbabwe through citizen participation, openness and accountability in government.
Mr Den Moyo spoke to ZimEye shortly after the demo –
Short Interview with Den Moyo

Q: For how many months have you been running this program?
Den Moyo: We have been running the campaign since Jan 2012.
Q: The name 21st February Movement, does it not conflict with the historic 21st February Movement which honours President Robert Mugabe’s birthday?
Den Moyo: The name 21st Movement is derived from the fact that we hold our protest demonstrations on the 21st of each month. It is also informed by the fact that we live in the 21st century. As for the name being somewhat similar to Bob’s movement is neither here nor there.
Q: Could this not be an open ridicule of Mugabe and ZANU PF?
Den Moyo: Yes it does, it is intended to highlight the duplicity in Zanu PF as regards to the implementation of the GPA.
Q: Are you not concerned how this movement could offend those MDC supporters(if any) who may still value President Mugabe’s contribution to the creation of the nation?
Den Moyo: Our struggle as I understand it is to bring change, democracy and liberty to Zimbabwe. Mugabe in my opinion is the Chief Propagator of all that’s evil in Zimbabwe. I do not.   ENDS

  1. Numbers do not play a crucial role in protest. What amtters is the gravity of the message diliverd.Well done 21st movement Mugabe is a cornerd rat big time.Aluta continua!

  2. Anonymous na nambya, numbers do not matter. Tsangirai had more votes than Mugabe in 2008 elections but Mugabe is the Head of state?

  3. Mukadota wabaya.Mavanhu epano pafora anoda demo seye Tarhir square.Demo chero 1 you can o it.Zvisinei macomrades,2013 is our last mile towards the promised land.Kip it up.

  4. Nonpartisan? Look at their T-shirts you silly reporter. These are MDC-T, N, M, 99, MDC whatever singing for their supper.

  5. I have seen a one man demo before, I honestly do not see any need to think people have to be in their millions to voice an opinion. I have known people to be frog marched, with swollen faces and petrified looks forced to attend demostrations purporting to support some ancient and senile tokoloshi.

  6. Very desperate these idiots and zvinonyadzisa izvi. Reminds me of Madhuku’s NCA which is composed of four people, Madhuku, his wife and two children.

  7. There you go again you piece of trash Comradog Nakednja, mgodoyi mtwana wehule abusing my honorable name again. If you are too embarrassed to use your own name change it to Comrade Th.uvi. The aim of your abusing my name is obviously to create disharmony between the honorable Makwembere and other true freedom fighters on this forum, which is what you were created to achieve by Zanu PF, muthengisi mtwana wehule nja mgodoyi esilahla ngoboya mabhotshelembizeni sihlama sika Siwela!

  8. so its a movement of four people, and how can a stupid movement or whatever it is called, that was formed by an active mdc t member who goes on to deride and accuse other political parties be said to be nonpolitical?
