They laboured to carry Presidential ballot boxes across the country and 3 months later, only 50% of their salaries was paid – the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission’s Chairperson Rita Makarau is under fire from 2013 Election workers who are preparing to take her to court for their dues.
“We write to advise that three (3) months after the presidential elections the hired private transporters contracted by CMED for ZEC
elections have only received 50% of thier hard earned monies,” a spokesperson for the group wrote.
He continued: “Surprising enough , the government is in place and ministers and other authorities are on payrolls and have been given new cars but those who facilitated the elections remain unnoticed , remain unknown.

“Can Rita Makarau justify her position as the chairperson for ZEC because this was budgeted for and where did the money go?
“The transporters also have lives to live and business commitments, can the government intervene
