Zimbabwe Parties Plot Massive Coalition Against Mugabe

ZIMBABWE’s multiple political parties are planning to form a grand coalition to topple Robert Mugabe and his ZANU PF party before the upcoming elections in scheduled in March 2013.
Influential figures from all key parties have voiced their intentions to rally behind one single banner to remove long time ruler Robert Mugabe.
Speculation is rife for a possible united front by Morgan Tsvangirai, Welshman Ncube’s MDC and Simba Makoni’s Mavambo/Kusile/Dawn (MKD) against a sitting dictatorship post every election.
MDC-T spokesperson Douglas Mwonzora quoted by Newsday said: “The position of the MDC is that it welcomes co-operation and unity of purpose of all progressive democratic forces for the purpose of the removal of dictatorship. It, therefore, has always co-operated with other political parties.
“The decision of what form of co-operation it will be will have to be made by members of the MDC itself. Our leadership would be guided by the decision of the national standing committee, national executive, national council, the provincial executive, district executive and ward executive. All leaders will have to make that decision.”

MDC-T's MDCs to form massive coalition

Mwonzora said: “Gone are the days of having little political fiefdoms and it’s time to have one strong candidate who has realistic chances of dislodging the dictatorship especially one who has defeated Mugabe before.”
The MDC camp also indicated it supported a grand coalition although it remained sceptical of Tsvangirai’s commitment to the deal.
A senior member of the MDC, David Coltart, yesterday said the 2008 election was lost because of split votes hence there was need for unity to “fight a common enemy”.
“This is probably the best that we can have. In 2008, elections were lost because of votes that were split,” Coltart said.
“(Welshman) Ncube and I are not in fact at odds on this issue. Both of us agree that in an ideal world, we should have a single united opposition against Zanu PF, but we both recognise that that is well-nigh impossible. In the circumstances, we should strive to agree on an electoral pact so that we do not split the vote as happened in 2008.
“We both know this will be very difficult and if there is any disagreement between us it is in how we rate the chances of obtaining an electoral pact. He (Ncube) is very pessimistic that this is possible whereas whilst I am also fairly pessimistic, I think it is still possible. My views in this regard should not be taken as any fundamental disagreement between us or any loss of faith by me in his leadership.”
A political peer on the Mthwakazi Junction website, Thulani Nkala has also called for unity which it is now speculated Dumiso Dabengwa’s ZAPU will unite with Welshman Ncube’s MDC party:
The old adage “united we stand and divided we fall” has been said again and again, but now it has never been so relevant to the political situation obtaining on the ground in Mthwakazi than now. We have recently seen an alarming mushrooming of different pressure groups and political parties in Mthwakazi and indeed a contestation of who is who in the region among political pretenders and established politicians in the region. As a multi-party democracy adherent, I welcome the multiplicity of the parties in the region while at the same time I am of the view that this large number of parties is derailing the struggle and the uplifting of the lives of the peoples of the region. It is not because they are many, but it is because of a lack of proper co-ordination and unity of purpose among these parties. All political and non-political organizations in Mthwakazi should seek to work on common issues that bind and unite them and the people of the region.

Grey areas still present
Despite the strong support for a united front, concern was raised by others that there should be controls since they do not trust Morgan Tsvangirai.
Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai can slip into intimacy with Robert Mugabe at any time, Welshman Ncube’s MDC vice chairman Langelihle Khoza told ZimEye.
“Mr Tsvangirai has very little reason to oppose Mugabe because he has not suffered anything from Mugabe’s irons hands while other people such
as Ncube have several areas of discontent with Mugabe such as Gukurahundi and other perpetrations,” he said.
MDC99 leader Job Sikhala also voiced added concern: “It’s good, but there is no one who should be automatically imposed on the people. It needs negotiation.
“It’s true the common enemy is Zanu PF and people want to work together to obtain democracy in Zimbabwe. It’s obvious we all want to see Mugabe’s back.”

  1. the issue of what lobengula did ha salways been the born of contention to those who have blood on their hands. into okumele abantu babeyazi yikuthi the country was illegal joined by the british we as the ndebele we need our independe

  2. My contribution is very short and be the judge. Political parties are sustained by ideologies that bring change to one’s station in life. Zanu PF has uncomparably changed the life for better for blacks in Africa.Zanu PF policies are second to none: education; Aids prevention, economic empowerment, freedom from any yoke of bondage. And, MDC is an Anglosaxon choir and its choruses are: democracy, rule of law, human rights and other notions never practised in this world.Zimbabweans must ask themselves – whose democracy, rule of law, human rights, etc. All these must be for blacks. Period! Kana vachena vakauya vasina chavo, zvavanazvo humbavha ngazvitorwe, ndiyo rule of law, justice pachirungu. Democracy kuita madiro a gogina munyika mako, ndizvo zvido zve ma Zimbabweans munyika mavo, ndiwo ma rights acho. Democracy, rule of law, human rights handi zvava rungu. Lastly who invited whites to Zimbabwe anyway?

  3. What we probably need is to aqgree on how we are going to vote, particularly for the one we want to be president of the country. Into cognisance should be the fact that – that particular person should be the one that is capapble of amassing votes even without unity of purpose – that will just be to make sure this time around these dictators are out. What do you think of people who do not even want a commission of inquiry after their own have died? Who then do you think killed them???

  5. Read your comments and cried. You have so many mixed feelings and you are still gripped with fear. You can’t even come open with your identities in your comments. What a shame. Prosecuting Mugabe is not the priority but building the country is. Tsvangirai being a bed hopper is not a problem but corruption is. The country’s number one enermy is not Mugabe but it is CORRUPTION which GNU failed to fix, MDC and ZANU PF failed to fix. Mugabe also wants to cede power but to who when all are corrupt. What happened to the land, mines and industries that were taken from whites. Do the people own them or it’s just a few individuals like army personnel and ministers etc

  6. it;s very good to have a coalition but not of headless chickens like yourselves .at one point you were together but you failed .going to school needs something more in it that is common sense which u dont have .define a dictator,do you ever dream of a level one informer who caused the massacres in Moza and Zambia to rule this country on the gukurahundi ticket .this all shows how powerful ZANU.PF is .

  7. ZANU PF is busy forming a massive coalition with the electorate, this is just a political comedy by power hungry creatures whom we all know theirs is just a battle to control, what an easy opposition, come 2013

  8. Gidza you are a quarter away from getting the answer, look up a dictionary, look at what the captain evil did from 1980 to present surely you can not call him Mother Theresa?

  9. Why do they call Mugabe a “dictator” when he obviously allows at least half a dozen opposition parties to operate. As i understand it, dictators do not allow opposition parties at all.

  10. We are hungry 4 unity to remove the disease called Zanu pf that affect education, hospital, law and Zimbo are all over the world fear of the disease

  11. Even vultures would not poke that zanooo pee eeff of a party with a butt hole dipped stick……..hwaaahwwahhhwahhhh ha hahhh.

  12. Really Miki mouse………..a fragmented opposition is what gave the coffin dodger a lifeline. In any case a united front opposition or not the occult party and their worshippers are a gonner 2013.

  13. Clear signs of desperation by power hungry opportunists. Even if you form a coalition of all parties in Zimbabwe, as long as its leader remain the bed hopper then nothing serious will come out of this.

  14. Experience shows us the world over that in order to remove a dictator you need a bulldozer of a political movement in teh form of a grand coalition of opposition parties to the regime. We have seen that put to edffective use around lately in Africa and now in Syria. Fortunately, ordinary Zimbabweans are willing to have a grand electoral coalition or alliance to remove the Mugabe dictatorship once and for all. The stumbling block appears to be those they elected to preesidential posts in the small parties. Neither are we suggesting that Tsvangirai is perfect. But who is?

  15. Iam love zanu pf but i would not brag about an 888years old leader who does not want to give others chavangaite chi chavakatadza kuti pa32 years chi , vhaira nezvimwe va88 havachaita

  16. Together we achieve more ,to some extent i understand and agree with Prof Ncube because Cde Tsvangirai seems to be falling into this dictators’ so called diplomacy. As members of Zanu Pf opposition we must firmly stand our ground and remove Mugabe. He is old he belong to the old peoples’ home. Shame on Shiri and colleagues no one is above the law we all know your political crimes with all the evidence at hand. Zanu Pf must go and restructure and try again after taking some of its uneducated members back to pre-school the likes of Joseph Chinotimba and Jabulani Sibanda . So Zanu Pf still believe in the old man (88) ,come on my dear comrades dont fool yourself this time Mugabe will never rig the election as he always did. Hokoyo Paradzai Zimhondi, Perence Shiri come April we will take you to Chikurubi majaira kuuraya vanhu .

  17. You see how terrified the above zanu pf commentators are just with the thought of electoral pacts. I say go on get the job done form alliances and end dictatorship icho!

  18. Ncube is untrusted man. He believes he is more educated than mr Tsvangirai this why Ncube and Mugabe try to amend constion to restrictly barries person with no unversity degree to be president. There is no need of coaliation. If MDCT beat Mugabe in 2008 by 4.9%, why not now? Colart speaks nonsense, he said MDC failed because of split. MDC won elections 2008 according to

  19. If u don’t trust tsvangson then don’t waste yo tym forming yo sick coalition against Pres. RG. Without Tsvangson and talking history, “gukurahundi”,hamubudiriri. Fungwa dzenyu dzefunga zvegukurahundi muchikanganwa zvakaitwa nanaLobengula kuma Shona hamufi makabudirira. Uye zvamutsvaga muchazviwana. Mapererwa futi. Mugabe is a life presdnt. Don’t waste yo tym treating mugabe as yo “enemy” as good as he is. Indai munotsvaga mamwe mabasa nokuti apa hamupapindi. Pamwe ndini ndichatopapinda ini mufudzi wemombe.

  20. chero mukabanidza twumapoka netwumapoka twenyu. ZANU PF has the majority of the people and will remain an ideal party. I am not shocked by this because it clearly shows how powerful and the support that we have in ZANU PF. We will meet on elections you can continue with kangaroo meetings
