Zimbabwe to send troops to Syria

Harare(ZimEye)-ZIMBABWE is set to deploy troops to war-torn Syria as part of a peace keeping mission following a request by the United Nations.
Defence Minister Emmerson Mnangagwa said UN has requested Zimbabwean troops to Damascus.
“The request has come in two ways. First the UN requested us to shift our officers in other countries to Syria. The second request was for us to send another team to Syria which we have already approved,” he said.
He said Zimbabwe will continue to honour UN invitations to participate in peace-keeping mission. Zimbabwe has participated in other war-torn areas like Liberia, Angola and Sierra Leone.
However Mnangagwa did not clarify how the Zimbabwe troops will operate as it has become apparent that UN intervention in Syria was failing.
A special envoy to the UN, Koffi Annan has withdrawn from being the negotiator as rival parties in the country continue to engage in a bitter civil war.
Thousands of people have been killed while others have fled the country to seek refuge in other countries.
There has been suspicion from the warring parties that foreign troops and machinery was being used in by the fighters.(ZimEye, Zimbabwe)

  1. Please UN when can you start deploying these zna soldiers..we are very proud that they have been chosen to go to Syria. Does 40 000 look like a number you can use. What about green bombers. We have an access of those too. And for good measure let none of them come back alive, but in body bags. Zimbabawe will be a peaceful country ever after.

  2. Un were desperate thats why ZNA were asked to provide cover. Is also a money maker for zna as UN pays in Euros so a lot of people will come back from this with full bank accounts.

  3. Africa 4 de african.eru 4 de erupean.asia 4de asia.arab 4 de arab.crime 2 criminal.zim 2 de zim. Ths is africa.

  4. Bad bad bad bad bad bad subservience to the asinine aims of neo-colonialist CRIMINALS!
How many times must Africans be reminded that the EUROPEAN-DOMINATED UN IS MERELY A TOOL OF THE RELENTLESS & EVIL EUROPEAN EFFORT AT WORLD DOMINATION?
African troops are for maintaining Law, Order & Integrity of African societies!
African position MUST BE: Allow the arabs to solve their own problem IN THEIR INDIGENOUS SPACE!
Africans have no business of risking lives and limbs of Africans in areas that are not of Africa! Or with those how are not of Africa!
    This is a horrible decision.
Not only that, the ever-deceptive european devils will be using the occasion to COMPRISE ZIM SECURITY!

  6. I hope the Syrian army will wipe them all.we are sick and tied of ZANU pf murderous in our Zimbabwe uniform.can anyone do the nation a favour by alerting the Syrians when these bunch are flying over so that they blow them before the land .hope chiwenga and nyikayaramba ,chigondo will accompany them.

  7. @panther what are you failing to say all I read is hate wouldn’t you want to be known for positive factual contribution to the forum? But then again this remains Paurosi Mwanangu’s view every one has a right to be not so clever but I get worried when some people want to maintain a monopoly

  8. Greyhora deserves a standing ovation, well said from a progressive and objective mind, too bad for zanu muppets, there is no anti-venom for the poison injected by the senior muppet, and their death is imminent politicaly and economicaly(modern day hunters and gatherers wout sweat)

  9. They should also send some Traffic Police officers to man roadblocks so they can curtail the free flow of the enermy and give them some targets.

  10. Greyhora it is pretty useless to enlighten you about the heroic achievements of ZNA because you know all of them but for reasons best for yourself you just cant concede.
How many years do african governments usually spend fighting rebel movements?,we can safely say a lifetime but that changes every time ZNA is deployed,eg RENAMO and UNITA,In DRC ZNA was fighting Rwanda and Uganda who were in turn being armed and trained by USA,hope you learnt something today!!

  11. Some people never cease to amaze me. Criticizing all and sundry is what they know best. They don’t and will never want to see anything positive coming out from this country. When the UN Security Council sees the ZNA as a capable and competant force, our own PM and his mdc followers feels the same army should go to HELL? And the usual maggots, gays and dogs, Gaygodzva included forgets that for the them to be able to foolishly waffle all this kind of rubbish, it is through the peace initiatives by this same army. Yes, through communication problems and certain logistical problems in DRC, the first batch suffered lots of lost lives but when the regrouped and restrategised, they posted very big positive results and the whole world knows about it.

  12. Zvaiwana ngwarati kudyaira kufura irere. How about also sending a battalion of Chipangano and some corrupt police officers vanozvibetserawo ikoko

  13. Yes Paurosi, my only problem with the ZNA as an entity right now is that it does not fight to defend the country, rather it fights against a peaceful people (Zimbabweans in Zimbabwe) who do not have the means nor guts to fight them. I do not call that an army but an instrument of terror and repression. Up to now we have no idea on whose behalf they were dying in DRC and Libya, their only notable contribution since independence was protecting the beira pipeline. Thereafter they have been used as an instrument of repression, which is what makes me wonder if they are trained to fight or repress, I would really love to see them in action against an armed opponent…

  14. @grehora I think it would be better if we stuck to the topic at hand and stop showing off our expertise in mice hunting and so on *******is being factual there I no substitute for training. The difficult part might be designing a training regime setting standards and ensuring conformity otherwise training should be continuous

  15. Paurosi, I advise you to stick to what you know best, which is drinking seven days and running after mice to braai thereafter…

  16. Comrade seven stars… That was 30 odd years ago, we might have had a formidable army then but you cannot rely on the training that the army was given by the US and Britain 30 years ago to confer fine status in something as dynamic as the military. The airforce is just about the only area where we had some kind of expertise but those mirage bombers we used to pride ourselves in are long out of service, replaced by a token number of chinese replicas, the commandos are even worse because everywhere where they have engaged in some sort of battle they have come off second best, save for shooting a few goats and herders a few years ago…

  17. paurosi mwanangu im tkn 2 greyhora ther is no nid 4 u 2 b abusive i dnt nid u as a tag team partner so dnt patronise me

  18. Beta 90% of da army dont know war, except beating civilians.they wil taste the syrian bullets kujaira kugara.Next place-Afghanistan.

  19. @Cynthia@Greyhora for a woman/lady I think Cynthia deserves a high five. Its a shame some people let their hatred of the present system impare their reasoning

  20. @greyhora teerera mkoma at independence the British govt dispatched a whole unit of specialised military instructors of all ranks to organise and preside over the integration of the 3 warring armies namely Zipra, Zanla en the Rhodesian personnel wer also posted frm these units on attachment to various military academies in both Britain and the USA en these men en women became the core of wat 2day is the ZNA. Ther is obviously no substitute 4 training en the Brtsh en USA ar renowned for excellence in tht area. General Walls remained the commander en ther ws a strictly monitored handing over of the military command 2 personnel wu wer cmin out of this process of training. The ZNA hs maintained those standards. Jst lyk ol areas of the economy ZNA hs nt bn spared the effects of the illegal sanctions but just like the UZ trained doctors who are trained to wrk wth the basics the world recognises en acknowledges their finesse

  21. It is better for the army to be employed in matters closer to their job description like this peacekeeping deployment in Syria than to create chaos in a civilian census.

  23. @greyhora very unlike the wars u hv watched on CNN en other media ther ar lots of wars en battles for which ther ws neva any documentation which u wil neva get 2 hear or read about it is clear your knwldg of the exploits of the ZNA is limited to the small quantity of written matter tht u hv consumed

  24. ZNA the best fighting machinery on the continent? Where have they really fought and distinguished themselves? They failed to contain the rag tag Renamo bandits in Moza in the 80’s and were being killed like flies in the DRC, they have the battle-hardened Angolans to thank for their survival there until the UN intervened. In Libya, they tried in vain to defend the brother leader but were sent fleeing into Sudan by the rebel forces. They are good for “peacekeeping”, where no fighting actually occurs but intimidation using creaky AK47 assault rifles and the blue UN helmet. It would be a welcome development for these Zanu PF mercenaries masquerading as the ZNA to be sent to Syria to experience real battle, then they will know the difference between fighting a 70 year old defenceless woman and fighting someone who can actually shoot back with double force!

  25. @paurosi mwanangu [wateva tht mins] Oh how refreshing 2 c yo name bec on the forum posts iv bn reading lately sound lyk they ar originating frm sme high scul by the way wer is kefasi mwanangu or ar u kefasi

  26. Fact is the Zimbabwean Army is revered as probably the finest in Africa in Infantry work ( the job/work of the Infantry soldier is to get into as close quarters as possible with the enemy and engage him) The majority of the present senior officers were there at integration time and therefore over and above their gorilla warfare training they went through British Military Academies. Hate them or what they are widely considered the best fighting machinery on the continent. The United Nations knowledge that fact.

  27. when unite nations was cautioning zimbabwe, about destroying the peoples houses by the so called murambatsvina, zanu pf gvnmt refused to listern they said united nations was manipulated by werstern countries seeking to effect regime changes on african gvnmts, now the same united nations is telling them to go for war they quickly respond positively , they are using the same sons and daugthers of zimbabwe to go and sacrifice their lives in the name of zanu pf.whose interests are the zanu pf pple serving in zimbabwe people? of zimbabwe let us wake up zanu pf takes the pple of zimbabwe for granted.

  28. The UN must let the Syrians solve their problems like we are doing here in Zimbabwe. They must learn to form a GNU and tolerate each other at least. Just bombing each other must not be tolerated but if they enjoy it so be it. As for the ZNA let them go and see real war not unarmed members of a different tribe, Kasais from the DRC or hungry and ill equiped Mantsanga Renamo fighters ofthe 80s. The Syrians are heavily armed and prepared to wipe out any one who does not pray like them which ever side one finds himself in.

  29. “However IT Mnangagwa did not clarify…” loooooool I enjoyed that part. What a coincidence of typing error and the man being talked about!

  30. The UN should reciprocate by sending observers and monitors durinp next year’s watershed elections. Even troops wil b welcome.

  31. They know that you fools like killing unarmed civilians n money,Arabs are fighters they will blow your asses.UN plz recruit more Zim soldiers, we don’t care even if you can take the whole Zanu army, they have done enough damage abahambe.Send them to other places too, like Nigeria where Boko Haram is causing havoc n Siberia where they will freeze to death
