The individuals who petrol bombed Tendai Biti’s house security wall, have been caught on camera.
The attackers were caught on cameras installed around the area which filmed the whole attack, ZimEye is reliably informed.
“We are studying the recordings right now as well as the vehicle used in the commission of the crime,” an officer close to the investigations told ZimEye on Tuesday morning.
The nature of the attack lacked sophistication and appeared ‘amateuriesh’, the attackers were clearly ‘inept’, a source close to the investigations commented.
The attack on Biti’s house came at a time when the MDC party’s unity was at its lowest ebb.
While there was specuation that Biti’s house was attacked by party insiders, party spokesperson Douglas Mwonzora was quoted alleging the attackers are from Robert Mugabe’s ZANU PF party.
“The attack bears the fingerprints of ZANU-PF,” he reportedly told the AFP news service.wall2
“It is clear that this is the work of the enemies of the MDC who want to portray it as a violent party,” Mwonzora said.
Another statement was released by the party’s wing in Chegutu,
“This must be ZANU PF work, taking advantage of power wrangles in the party MDC-T. The possibility of staged managed incident is there,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, investigations into the attack were ongoing at the time of writing with police and forensic experts taking samples and statements among other things.

  1. It is in the interest of Zanu Pf to stir confussion in the ranks of MDC T. Zanu Pf’s main objective is to destroy the Morgan Tsvangirai and MDC T brand and consolidate power after stealing elections last year.
    Zanu Pf has no solutions to the economy except to blame sanctions and MDC T for its predicament. Its obvious that Mugabe will not stand for elections in 2018 and they don’t want Morgan to stand becoz he is well known and will be too strong 4 a new Zanu Pf Presidential candidate. They are distabilisimg MDC T to achieve these objectives. That is why there are no solutions to the economic problems we are facing. For Zanu Pf retaining power is priority number one and the economy and it’s people are stupid!

  9. What would gain for targeting Biti?. People should give police a chance to investigate before jumping to conclusions. Zanu pd is busy trying to improve the lives of the people of Zimbabwe and has no time to carry non productive work.

Morgan Vharazipi,point of correction,Zanu pf did not win any election and you know it.You and your zanu are the reason why we are in this messy.I have noticed that the zezurus are power hungry and greedy.Why cant they relinquish power and let others rule,The Karangas ,the Manyikas,The Ndebeles,The Vendas are also capable of running this country if given a chance.You have the right to renain silent and vacate the throne.

  19. If Morgan threatened to remove Cde Mugabe violently, have we no reason to SUSPECT the very Morgan! However, suspiction alone is not adequate! We should await official investigations! Those suspecting ZANUPF hand in this sordid attack are politically desperate! ZANUPF won the elections on 31st July ,2013 in peaceful way. Why would it mete violence on polital non entities instead of putting effort on working out ways to implement our party manisfesto?

  23. why preempting investigations. why finger pointing when you dont have evidence. the problem with policians esp the opposition, they want to be the police,judges.
    why blaming Zanu PF ehen you are authors of your own misfortunes. When Tasvangirai had a messy divorce with Karimatsenga you blamed Zanu PF, when he separated with Elizabeth Macheka you again blamed Zanu, when he inpreganated you again blamed Zanu as if they are the ones who opened his zip. you have your own skirmishes and you still blame Zanu pf. Why cant you wait for investigations to be completed so that you can comment when evidence has been revealed. if surely the suspects were captured by CCTV cameras, they are going to be known and their political persuasion identified if any. It seems MDC-T does not learn. you did in 2008 elections when you were announcing results before they were released and giving different figures every time you called for press conference. just be calm and wait for the law to take its course otherwise you will be accused of interfering with investigations. as that is not enough there is now great enermity within the party MDC that anything is possible. when unscrupulous youths assault vice-treasurer Eldon Mangoma what can stop them from doing so to the Secretary General Biti who is said to be supportive of the leadership renewal notion? But lets not conclude by blaming others. it seems some lawyers have stooped so low to the extent of wittingly do the unlawful.
