Zimbabwe arrests top rights lawyer, MDC-T youth hospitalised after another attack by Zanu PF thugs, Sadc in crisis meeting over Zim election, these were some of the top news headlines on Sunday morning.
ZimEye caught with the MDC-T’s chairman for the United States, Mr. Den Moyo shortly after their protests in Washington in which they have been campaigning against Robert Mugabe at the South African embassy. According to Den Moyo, Robert Mugabe will be forgiven if he repents of his alleged abuses.

Question:
1. We see you have continued your 21st Movement Protest over the year or so. They have been at the South African embassy right? Have you found or noticed any hope, through these so far?

We have conducted the Free Zimbabwe Global Campaign for the past 19 months without fail. We’ve been to the SA, Zambian, Mozambican, Chinese, Russian and Zimbabwean Emabassies worldwide. We also demonstrated outside the UN Headquarters in NY. Our efforts have paid great dividends in forcing Mugabe’s hand to allow a new Constitution and for SADC to push for free and fair elections.

Question:
2. An editorial was printed in a South African paper on Saturday arguing that the MDC has blown its chances of warding off Zanu-PF poll rigging. This also follows the failure to obtain a favourable judicial outcome against the Special Vote. Is it right to state that the MDC parties(or just your party)’s failed dismally against ZANU PF?

Den Moyo
Fighting Zanu PF was never going to be easy. There is an entreched preconceived notion among their lot that they own Zimbabwe and it belongs to them and they can do as they please. When we signed the GPA, we placed our trust in the process that SADC prescribed for us. Our efforts in the GNU and achievements thereof speak for themselves. We were able in a short space of time to reverse the gross degradation of human living standards in Zimbabwe. We should never give up now. We can still enforce controls in the election process by having our people present through out the election process to guard and protect the votes. We have to push SADC to facilitate that process.

Question:
3. Your Personal View: In the event that your party takes over power, in your own personal view, should Robert Mugabe and his ZANU PF closets be tried for crimes committed during their office time?
There have been concerns raised by ZANU PF that your numerous campaigns are merely western projects to prepare for revenge on Mugabe. Feel free if you feel unsettled to answer this one.

Den Moyo
We believe in reconcilliation and reconstruction. If Mugabe is willing to come clean and apologize to our people for all the atrocities he and his party have committed against our people and is willing to seek forgiveness from the people, then there would be no need for repatriation. Our goal is to build a New Zimbabwe that respects the sanctity of life. There is no time for seeking revenge.

Question:
4. On another note, turning to contemporary American/Zim affairs:
Has the recent Trayvon Martin matter affected Zimbabweans’ life in the US in any way?
Many thanks for your time.

Den Moyo
Yes the Trayvon Martin case has polarized the nation. Our people have been on the receiving end of unjust judicial comencements. They fully resonate with the notion that there was gross judicial malpractice in Treyvon’s case.   ENDS

  4. Yes, we will even forgive Mugabe kaGubi KaGanda for gukulahundi, Prof Mzilankatha is man of peace, but Shangalai will not be forgiven for impregnating Mthwakazi women, that’s a crime against humanity!

  5. Its now the duty ot the Pressident to ease the tension towards zim election. He should hold meetings with his oppenents as soon as possiable. Otherwise he can seek advace from the wellwishers not from his own party.
